There has been plenty of debate on here as to coaching style and 'sustained success' but let's look at things factually for a change.

Clarkson coached 3 premierships between 2013 and 2015, unfortunately beating us in the process. Coaches who began their careers under Clarkson, Beveridge, Hardwick and Simpson have won all the premierships since.

Coaches who coach defensive styles haven't won too many premierships at all. People saying that defense wins premierships would find that hard to justify in the face of all those unfortunate facts.

Simpson came in to Wet Toast and his first comments were about their poor skills. He's addressed that and he's now won a flag with the weasels. I think it's well past time we stopped pretending that we are on a winning path and started doing what successful clubs are doing. We can start by working on our skills and then learning how to score. Keeping extras behind the ball as plan A and hoping the other side doesn't score isn't working out for us. Maybe we should copy what successful clubs do.

1.Simpson has just proved he is a better coach than Lyon. Will be a legend. Got Sam Mitchell as an ass, genius.
2. This win was achieved without Naitanui, Gaff and Sheppard. That means he's a good coach.
3. Be prepared for more disappointments over the next 2-3 years.
It's now 4 (after 30 years)/zipppppp (after 24 years) in their favour. That probably means at least 100 years + to even the score. And that's a very optimistic viewpoint.
Since I'm now on the wrong side of the average life expectancy I hope some of you are around when we win our first flag because it ain't going to be me.
