Good article by Patrick Smith in today’s Oz newspaper about Richmond and now Collingwood being rewarded for conducting a review into their coaching department.

Why is our club not following their example?

They do conduct reviews DD. It's only ever done in house though and the findings always say that everything is going along just fine and dandy.

2019 has started early.

I’m guessing everything is getting looked at now, including the coaching department.

Buckley wouldn’t have had the 2018 turnaround without support from below and above in that club.

Richmond and Collingwood may have shown faith in their head coach but they cleared out their assistants before they showed any success. We seem to have held firm with our assistants for some time despite our results.

Good coaches evolve the game. Deliver some quantum change that puts their team ahead of the pack for a time.

Trouble is, unless you are a freak like Sheedy, even Malthouse to a lesser extent, most coaches only get one shot at it. The pack eventually catches on, catches up and usually overtakes.

Roos, Scott, Worsfold, Beveridge, Longmire. CLarkson’s lasted a bit longer, or he had a few aces up the sleeve rather than one. Now it is Hardwick, Buckley and Goodwin (I’m not convinced Simpson has it).

WHere does this put Freo’s lot given the head coach had prime time from 2010-2015?

Our list is no worse than Collingwood's, until you get to the coaching staff, then they leap away from us. It becomes more obvious every week. By the way, Tigers hard running game plan proves unsustainable, like Bulldogs and Freo. Picked apart by a skill based game plan.

They're game plan is as good as any other and it won them a premiership. Did you see Dusty trying to walk down those stairs during the week? It's not easy to win preliminary finals when your main play maker is a cripple.

Collingwood were the best team going into the finals and they've kept the form up. There's a lot of 2016 Western Bulldogs about them.

If JLo plans on being a head coach soon, he’d better start unlocking what he knows against the Slime next week, if the unthinkable happens today. The Slime have beaten Pies both times this year. You’d have thought JLo’s IP would have given them the upper hand. As for Simmo, he’s just having his time in the Sun like Roly did 2012-2015. Let’s see if the Clarko’s influence stand up. I reckon Melbourne’s game plan beats the hell out of Simmo’s. RM, the Pies mids tore shreds Rich mids. That’s where you win games of footy. The bloke clunking it up forward is the end result. Footy 101.
