Subiaco win the flag nearly every year because they are the best resourced team in the league and, more importantly, have the most money. It doesn’t matter who coaches them, success is a given. That doesn’t mean Schofield isn’t a good coach, he probably is, but until he leads Perth to a flag I will have my suspicions. Scott Watters and Peter German didn’t really work out at the next level.

It's shaping up to be an epic boofest of massive proportions. The commentators will barely be heard (not a bad thing) and the umps won't know who to cheat for with the non-stop booing.

Goodie, Subiaco kept getting beat by Peel over the last few seasons.
According to Horsley, Schofield whipped the players through a very rigorous training plan. Yesterday their fitness lasted them 4 quarters, with excellent skill and gameplan that ensured an extra number near the ball to spread and run it out. West Perth didn't go with them after the first 15 minutes, always trailing the man but it looked like Hawthorn v Freo near the end of the season.
I don't think our coaching team has been anywhere near that standard. You'd look at this guy, possibly as Ross's successor.

We could be at least banging his door down Yeti....ie give him something to ponder. But i bet we arent...

I know theres the added attraction of father/ son at Port Adelaide...and Im not saying Schoey is the answer to all our woes... - I guess Im just saying that itd be nice to know we were at least enquiring about his services. Given we've kept the exact same coaching roster as the last 2 years, I am damn sure we have/ are not...

Schofield was a great Port player and destined to go there. Let’s not get carried away with his success as coach. That’s how Scott Waters was picked to be the Saints coach few years back. Freo needs to get a recruiting guru and a footy manager whose imposing shadow will whip Roly into submission. Not that he needs it. Relax fellas, my faith in the club has never been stronger. Stay the journey especially during this gloomy week.

I agree. We should be reviewing our coaching roster. I also think that once Schofield has done his Coaching Level 4 certification, he'll be a senior coach at AFL level.

Bond, however, gave his review result at the end of last season and happily announced that no changes were going to be made. I'd assume that no approach was made to Schofield based on those comments.

I'm not sure what it takes to trigger a proper review of how we do things. You'd think the difference in approaches and the differences in results between the two Perth based teams might lend some credibility to the need for a review but apparently not.

We need to get some coaches who can raise our skills to AFL level. Pretty obviously smarmy pressers and a blind insistence on effort to the exclusion of all else, isn't going to work.

Pretty sure they've done the review on the ass coaches haven't they? They along with everything else got the tick of approval, or as with the senior coach we couldn't afford to sack them and pay out their contracts.

They got their tick of approval. Bond stated that he and the Ass coaches still had contracts and would be there next year.

He got his part wrong but the Ass Coaches haven't been changed.

In fact, only the Football Manager and the List Manager have been changed....sort of so far.
