TOPIC: Membership dilemma?

Yeah way to miss the point again, Noddy.

People are declining to renew their memberships, not because we are going through bad times but because they are unhappy with the way the admin is conducting themselves. We've all been through hard times, many years of them and still been active supporters.

Its a bit rich having a go at people for not supporting the club when the club isn't acting like a club as has been pointed out by too many on here.

I guess there is a difference between those who support the club and those who are apologists for the admin

The admin have made me feel that if I was to sign up and part with the cash, I'd been had and they'd put one over me.

That's how Rosich has made me feel about the club. I'm sure he thinks we're all suckers and he can spin any old yarn to get us coming back.

I do feel guilty at times not supporting them during hard times.

I think if we all look beyond who’s running the club at any given time, we find ourselves coming back the following season. I managed to conjure up seats that allowed our party of 9, sitting together this year. Most are foundation members and have been through pain. I used to be the guy who was yelling abuse at the maggots, opposition players etc until the good folk I sat with curbed my tantrums. For that I’m grateful. So to abandoned them now would be, dare I say it, idiotic. Most of us care more for the team then the people who run the club. And tbh, that’s what it’s about.

I love my new seats, row 12 middle of the ground. It takes me ONE MINUTE to get a beer and two minutes to go to the toilet.

I have an entire pub right behind me, fish & chips and other food choices. It is bloody awesome. It costs $799 per year which is quite a bit more than I paid last year ($450 I think) so I expected better. Well, we didn't get better, we got BEST.

I can appreciate high prices preventing some people with families from renewing (I was not always financial myself when I had young children).

But the rest of you sound like grumpy old men as usual. They should change this site's name to Complaintland.

So, to clarify, your advice is that they should renew their membership seats rather than pay on as they go.

If you want to see 11 games in awesome seats without having to buy them every fortnight before the game, then yes.

What if you don't have awesome seats? In fact what if you don't like your seats?

I'm a Quack? Quay? Member from day one and the renewal will happen.
But if we have more than two Thursday night games next games I would think about renewing if that is going to be the norm for WA clubs.
Support The Dockers through this period as we did the period before that and before that and before that.

I'll renew my membership as long as they don't put the price up too much. For the last few years my income has increased by 1 - 2 % a year - and I have worked well. I would expect the price increase for membership of an under-performing club to be below that range.

The club has asked us repeatedly over the years to be proud loyal passionate and I have been.
I don't see the same attitude with the administration. The players are playing their guts out most weeks and are not achieving results because more often than not the umpiring is biased against us at our own home ground.
This has the effect of players beginning to foster an attitude of "why bother?"
I know they are professionals, but they are only human too and this is a natural human instinct.
There's been some shocking free kick counts against us and especially in the derbies in recent years.
Can I now ask "Why would I continue to pay to see that?'
UNBEEEEEELIEVABLE. I have asked the club many times to allow the coach to call out the bad umpiring, just as Chris Scott, Brad Scott or Dimmer would do. The club should allow him to "have his players backs" and pay his fines for speaking out. Despite several emails and facebook posts no one from the club has ever offered a response.
We are not asking for favouritism, as we all probably feel similarly I'd bet that most of us would just be happy with a LEVEL playing field. Verified stats were released this year after Chris Scott spoke up for us , saying that Dockers do not get a home ground advantage. Those stats showed we received around 300 less frees over 15 years than we received. Eagles received 900 more than they gave away. 1200 differential or about 80 a year.
Its too late for the club to respond now so I will not renew and see if there are some changes next year.

As HArvs said to us, don't give up on your players, admin and coaches come and go but players (yes they change too) but they are your team and need your support so I'll no doubt renew for my 24th year. Also I can afford it, no kids at home so I won't disrespect anyone for not being able to renew as it does cost a lot. My small protest against how the club have spoken to me is not to spend anything else at the club, haven't bought any merchandise for yonks.
