TOPIC: Tom Langdon

A lot has been mentioned of West Australian players being recruiting targets for next year but how about family members like Tom Langdon. Ed has indicated a liking for the club and a desire to stay long term. Apparently, according to a Fox reporter today, he is out of contract and terms yet to be reached for a contract extension. He's a good size at 190cm, 24 years old and could broadly fit Ross'trade target of multi positional players capable of playing forward and back.
Just thinking he wouldn't be a bad pick up if available at the right price.

“..,,he wouldn't be a bad pick up if available at the right price.”

I think we could say that about most players getting regular games in the AFL.

I always like the idea of brothers playing together. Tom is a very good player particularly down back. Freo should consider the possibility of putting him on the list. Use Ed as a reference.

Funny, I bet the same convo is happening on Magpie supporters sites (Magpieland.com?): Would be good if we could pick up Tom's brother Ed for pittance; he's only playing for Freo...

To be honest I can’t find a spot for him in our back six. I would pass.

Watching the replay of Collingwood v GWS from Rnd 2. Anyone doubting the value of making a play for Tom Langdon if he's available should have a look. Quality experienced players should always be considered regardless of where they play. And he's still relatively young.

I must admit in not really having had a good look at Tom L, but he looks very mobile and is around 190. The question I ask is when does a tallish mobile player get called as a defender or a mid or a forward? When do they get that tattoo on their forehead marking them for life in that spot on the field. Young Ed has a big tank...I would imagine his brother would be genetically inclined the same way...what do you know...a big midfielder who has been hiding in maggie's defence because of a glut of mids. If he wants to come, and someone from here wants to go...it may be ok. But, again, it takes a bit of innovative thought from our coaching staff. And RL has indicated he wants more versatile blokes...so maybe?

Yeah, sounds like a good one. I'd approve it and since he's a defender, Roly will probably make him into the forward that we wished we had...

Tom played a very good game tonight. I can't imagine that Collingwood would let him go. But who knows? He will be in the team next Friday so we can check him out against the best team in the comp.

Hmm you are dreaming if you think he would leave the Pies to join a team and admin which is currently in disarray. There is no way we would be able to lure him like we did Nathan Wilson, or unfortunately, Brandon Matera.

Yeah, I don't think giving the Landon boys the idea of playing together helps Freo. There's only one way that would go.

Half back flankers are not something we have in short supply so it'd be silly to go paying for one when we're rebuilding and supposed to be hoarding draft picks. He wouldn't come here anyway.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I see him as another Matt Carr type player. Of course he would come here, both brothers have an interest in different places and trying out new experiences. Cockburn has some wonderful....

Oh, ok fair enough.
