TOPIC: Sam Weidemann

No I'm not suggesting we chase him but with his emergence on the weekend as a key forward in Jesse Hogan's absence could see Jesse become more gettable at the trade table. Weidemann is 21 and had 24 disposals, 7 marks and 3 goals and close to best on ground. It'll be interesting to see how he performs for rest of the finals and further improvement on his part is definitely in our best interest.

I don't want Hogan to come to Freo , I don't like to chase players over and over , if they have had a chance to come home and decided to stay where they are we should move on without them . same for Lobb.

Remember players like Black, Mitch Clark, both knocked back Freo’s offer and both now on the scrap heap. While many KPP have been linked with us, our club have been reluctant to chase them again. Hence the reason why players like McGovern and Hogan are now just conversational pieces. I still think that if we’re keen on boosting our forward stocks, then is better to grab someone like Hoges instead of drafting them now. Clearly many thinks this draft will snare us the gun forward we craved. I say there’s an opportunity to snare another Fyfe or Dustin Martin, put them in with Cerra and Brayshaw, and we’ve got something resembling the Demons of today midfield.

McDonald and Weidemann were excellent the other night but Hogan has been playing a McCarthy type role. He's got a good tank and is very mobile, so he would add another dimension to that forward line.
If you were in his boots what would make you want to come to Freo? It would have to be very big $$$ to move someone away from a side in premiership contention.

There's a few young and old guys running around in the WAFL who should be looked at.
But I would wait and get confirmation that they are up to AFL level playing for a another club.

Yes I was really surprised how good Weidermann was the other night and I dare say Hogan could find himself running around in the VFL in 2019.

The speculation continues. Have we decided as a collective the best outcome for LN. Until we get that sorted, the above story is just another paper selling exercise.

Melbourne will definitely be happy to play both in the same forward line, even though it goes against the Jezza theory for successful AFL tactics.
)Paragraph 7: Clause IV: Sub Clause B: No more than 1 [one] player who is considered to be a KPP or Ruckman in any 1 [one] AFL team of 22 [twenty two] for any 1 [one] game(.

The game evolves and if you’re standing still, you’ll find out quick smart about change. And here’s the thing, if Roly knows what’s good for Freo’s success, I’m on his speed dial.

What you guys need to understand is Hogan is a 150 goal a year forward that sends us straight into premeriship contention.

All the numbers are telling us.......well, forget the numbers.

Throw the sink at him. Just don't land it on his broken foot.

150 goals a year, hypen?

Thats a tall order when he'd be played behind the ball.

Seriously though, I'm just not convinced he even wants to come here. He's never once indicated any desire to trade out of MFC. He's moved his family to Melbourne and his team is playing finals where our president is saying no finals again next year.

What on earth would attract him to quit all that to come here? Money? I'm willing to bet MFC could easily match any monetary offer. Success? Unless you're talking about the suburb, he's not going to come here for success.

I reckon that boat has passed and we need to be looking elsewhere
