TOPIC: The Rory Story

Talking Footy has reported that Carlton are offering a million a season to Dylan Sheil.
The Giants however, are desperate to hang onto him. To do so they need to free up some salary cap with the obvious answer being releasing Rory Lobb to Freo.
I don’t have the Fox, so I haven’t seen a lot of GWS or Lobb, but what I have seen looks pretty good.
Lobb or McGovern?

Neither thanks

Each of them would cost us more than they are worth. Pick a KPF in the this years draft and develop him. We are not in premiership contention so there is no good argument for paying overs for players

Yeah TY, I fully concur.
Unlike a lot of others, I don’t think there is a lot wrong with the forwards we already have. It’s just a real tough gig at Freo. With young Hugh Dixon coming through and probably one of the King brothers in the draft, we look fairly solid. A small forward would be handy.
But somehow I’m quite sure we’ll end up with one of Lobb or McGovern next season

During the gws swans games one of the commentators (think it the snoz) mentioned that Rory may be heading to WC to replace Lycett.

No Lobb. No mcgoverns...quick and skilled good sized mids...and mcarthy to undergo hypnotherapy... and...

Unlike many who are desperate to get a tall into our forward line, as if we haven’t, especially in the last 2 drafts, I’m keen on the prospect on this mid.

A Vic Metro, U18 AA, mid dynamo named Bailey Smith. Not one to do a thorough analysis on draft prospects, I leave that to the experts, young Smith can play. But on the Lobb scenario, didn’t he knock back Freo when we enquired about his services in the past 18 months. I think our ruck stocks are just dandy.

We don't agree very often Jezaa, but I also don't want to spend heaps on getting a bloke that is neither a good forward or ruckman.
I said this after the game on the weekend and nothing has changed for me.

I will spew if we go after Lobb. 8 disposals, 2 marks, no goals and 37 hit outs today in a dominant side. He only had four more hit outs than Sinclair who is a second string ruckman playing as the main ruckman due to Naismith's season ending injury.

We get just as good a return from Darcy in only his second year. And Lobb is no marking forward who will change things down there either.

Plus we don't have any bloody decent picks as it is, and he'll cost way too much. Surely it's not that hard to work out is it?

Rosich has said we're not interested in McGovern, but apparently Carlton are.

Former Black Duck, develop him as a forward - he's massive, great contested mark and a very good straight kick. Yep, bring him in.

As a side note but related to the Rory Story if you find yourself in Lancelin and are looking for a feed I recommend the Lobbster Trap Café.

Mundy has one more year maybe two. We need another contested ball bull. Smith looks great. Trade the dwarf get a King and possibly Marlion Pickett with Brissy's second rounder. Neale doesn't want to be here he wants more money, let him go.

You can then also the look at offloading Apeness and you'll get pick 50ish for him.

It's starts taking shape then with some serious quality.

Not for me thanks Polly. Why pay big bucks for a bloke who averages 9 disp, 3 marks, 20 hit outs and less than 1 goal all season.

Darcy is already performing better with 9, 2, 33 and same goals.

Just because his an ex black duck doesn't mean he's worth it. Coniglio might be a different story though.

Jeez Hypen, if the shoe was on the other foot would you be happy to take Apeness and give up a pick in the 50s? I wouldn't. I know he's been cruelled by injury but he hasn't played even one breakout AFL game.
He's slipped down the order behind Tabener, Cox and probably Dixon.
