If we don’t trade Neale, I think we’ll go all in with the Ponzi scheme and trade away both our future 1st and second round pick to get back into this draft. Knowing we have a good core group of 20-25yp players, I think waiting until next years draft prospects to develop will miss Fyfe, Neale, Bennell, Wilson and Tabs are in their prime.
I think despite the president stating that they are not expecting much better next year is an out right lie designed to keep the wolves from the door and perhaps increase the value of our future picks.
Having said that I don’t think anyone out side the top eight teams this year will trade away their first round picks so we may get better value trading it for two second rounders.
If say Carlton were to give up picks 24& 25 for our 2019 first round pick and we thought that would secure Hill & O’Riely would you take that?

I would

Tend to agree with you there PK. Would like a late teen and early 20s though. It’s likely we will have a top 10 pick again next year.

Im wondering if we could get Marlion Pickett with pick 77? Probably not unfortunately. Hayden Sloithe wouldnt be a bad option either with pick 77. Delist crab Sutcliffe and Sloithe would be an instant upgrade. Its a real shame we picked up Scott Jones, he's shit and Mason Shaw or.......Zac Clarke! would be better than him > more upside in the case of Shaw.

To get back into the second round around the 20 to 27 mark this year is key. Add 3 more good kids with one at least a jet. Agree with PK above and explains why Sutcliffe, Grey and Tommy have not kept there spots.

I probably wouldn't do it PK. The second round picks this year are not enough to give up on a potentially super early talent next year.

This year isn't really a super draft in terms of talent throughout, it's that top 5 to 10 that are really exceptional and on par with any of the best drafts of the past. That there's so much quality tall talent there is why people are excited about it as most years the best midfielders are the standouts who go early. Those top 10 picks this year are really valuable but it levels out after that into a regular draft.

Anyone in the next 30 picks could go anywhere and be justifiable. Hill and O'Reilly are on a par with that group of players and could go anywhere in that range so I wouldn't be robbing our draft prospects next year to add them.

I don't know how we'd get into the second round other than a Neale to Brisbane trade but I wouldn't be sacrificing our future for it as I don't think this is the sort of draft where you'd get good value out of the second rounders.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Saving up for next years draft is like not having a feed today because tomorrows feed is going to be the best ever. I'm fed up with starving myself then finding out there is no tomorrow, cos some sneaky mongrel from Basketball, or the girl down the road snuck in and took the fillet steak and the lemon merangue pie.

Check this bloke. Played for North Adelaide (coach Josh Carr) vs Sturt final on the weekend.
Fyfe like set of mitts and some serious pace.

I’ve had a bit more of a look at this Rozee and from what I’ve found he is considered a forward who can move into the midfield. In this game he is playing across the half back line.
Exactly the type of multi positional player RoLy was talking about in his last presser?

You'll find almost every player drafted this season will play all over the ground to show recruiters what they can do. Rozee looks good but won't be around near our picks.

Cal Thomey is a big Connor Rozee fan. I have heard that the Gold Coast are considering going with JL and Rozee with their picks 2 and 3 so he must be OK.. I think Rankine's character has been questioned a bit I am not sure of why.. It will be really interesting what the other teams do before us.. Listening to Bailey Smith on the road to the draft podcast last week he definitely sounded like he didn't want to move interstate. Usually they at least try and sound like it wouldn't worry them.

There are whispers that Rankine has a pretty big head and is a bit full of himself. Wouldn't you back your club, coaches, players, leadership group etc to change that attitude and capitalise on his undoubted talent?

It's also that attitude that allows him to do the freakish and take players on. Selling dummies, side stepping players and breaking tackles are all from that 'I can do anything' attitude. Helping him grow some off field humility should be part and parcel with teaching a kid to play in the AFL.

Rankine is too short for a top 5 pick. Rozee looks terrific. Whichever club winds up picking first would have to be insane to not take Lukosius.
