I don't think I've seen such a young, tough, hard at the ball and body team as Melbourne were tonight, in a long time.

I really feel that is another area we need to work at. They were relentless tonight and didn't once take a back step. Brady Grey is about the only hard nut we've got and he's likely to be delisted.

It was also interesting that players name checked McArtney their ass coach as making a real difference. They are another club with ass coaches that are highly rated. Compared to us with a bunch who nobody knows or rates.

This win was on top of their best forward and best backman out due to injury also. They will be strong for years and would just maybe start as firmer favourites than us for a premiership in 2020.

The Demons, complete overhaul, coaches included, (12 years).

Paul Roos, should be credited for how the Demons have transformed. I think we should offer him the FOM job at Freo.

Rebuilding also means good recruiting. I don't think we've done this very well. Cleaning out half your list so quickly isn't the way to go. You still need older heads to help the youngsters.

The last couple of years has seen some good pick ups but the previous few years has seen very few successes. We have a dearth of good players in their mid 20s and a few guys getting a regular game that we are just hoping will improve. Getting games into them doesn't mean they will become great players. eg. Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Tucker.

Just saying that because Melbourne took a long time to get things right doesn't mean that it will follow that we will be the same. We've used up too many of our future picks and don't have the spread of talent tor anywhere near the depth that they have.

Melbourne’s recruitment has had its issues as well - think Watts, Toumpas, Trengove and a few I’ve probably missed.
They have thrown a lot of darts at the board and whilst they look good right now I’m not sure they are there just yet.
