Well, clearly the Board agrees, because one of them is already gone.

The assumption seems to be that whomever we get to replace Lyon will be better than Lyon. If given the choice last year I probably would have preferred Pyke to coach Freo. People think Lyon is stubborn, but if reports are to be believed Pyke oversaw the psychological tormenting of his players, to the point of mutiny, and Pyke still stands by his course of action.

I'd argue the problem is not the coach but the players. We are playing a bunch of young blokes and we need some more. When they are battle hardened we will have some idea of the quality of the coaching. And if we don't have enough good players the best coach in the business wont make them premiers. No one can honestly look at the teams we put out this year and say they were up to the standard of tonights teams playing finals. Most of them might get to that standard eventually but we don't yet have the full kit of the right balance, experience or talent. ... Peter who?
