Hard to know where to post these thoughts - in the Cerra or Neale thread. Today's Worst stated Cerra signed for a two year extension at $800K; quite odd if you ask me because where else have they posted in such explicit details the contract extensions for other draftees? If I were L. Neale, a member of the 2018 Leadership Group, Doig medalist (and perhaps soon to be Doig medalist again for 2018), multiple Derby medal winner currently on a three year deal at around that $450K per year mark, then I'd be rightly cheesed off and would be sniffing around another club for more dollars too. Not to say that money is the only thing, but it's gauging your relative worth with respect to others that is also a driver. All the other signs - not getting along with Ross Lyon, unhappy with the progress of a rebuild, etc. - seem to be smokescreens compared with the relative $$s offered to other players and your own feeling of relative worth.
Speaking of Cerra, how smart is this kid? Didn't sign immediately when others did. Confident enough in his own skills to wait and wait until the end of the year, to then be in a better possie to sign a good contract. Kid's got serious decision making skills.
