I would be very surprised if that was $800k per annum it maybe $800k for the 3 years to run. A first year player earns $88k and in their second year $100k so if he was offered $266k pa for years 2 to 4 maybe, but does seem to be over the odds for a 2 year player to be given.

Like you, I doubt that a second year player would suddenly be on 800k per year....unless Rosich has gone the full looney tunes on everybody

I would still question any new player being on that much. and to clarify he has 3 years to serve now as the 2year extension starts when his 2nd year finishes therefore he now has 3 years to go.

With 44 players allowed on their lists, including rookies, that averages out at roughly $280k each.

If anyone thinks Cerra is a below-average player, based on his new average salary of $266k for the next 3 years - well, I question your understanding of what’s a good AFL player.

We’ve got a bargain at that rate and this kid will be a jet.

Interesting thing with those TPP payments that clubs can withhold over $600k per year - that’s where your ‘war chests’ come from when clubs chase big names.
