Of The West Australian covering the Eagles' finals campaign.

Kurtr Mutimer - Could he win the Norm Smith Medal
First we'll explain to you who he is, then we'll tell you why he's so underrated and ready to win the Norm Smith.

I can’t seem to find any odds on the bloke on the TAB. Did you get the spelling of his name right, Shane.

Jezza, it was the worst, so don't blame Shane for the spelling, and anyway the ink has probably run all over the place as well. (Assuming he picked it off a park bench in Cockburn).

So the only thing I know about this Mutimer character is that he was amongst the Weagles Wannabes who had their pants lowered by the Tiger cubs from Claremont yesterday. A great effort from a group of young guys along with a couple of veterans in Ian Richardson and Kane Mitchell. There were a few guys out there who would look quite good in the purple, Jye Bolton, ball magnet maybe older than we are looking for, Ollie Eastland mobile big man 196cm could compliment Darcy in the future, Jarrad Hardisty mature age ex Hawk tough nut or Jordan Clark 17yo running defender who could develop into midfielder for the future.
Well done Tigers, Weagles always in trouble after they considered playing Josh Kennedy at one stage.

It was a fun game to watch Gumnut. The Claremont Oval redevelopment means that a crowd of 4000 is all sitting/standing on top of each other, which meant there was a fun atmosphere.

Claremont’s tackling pressure was very good. Guys like Bolton and Mitchell just string together so many repeat efforts, that it really put pressure on East Perth’s midfield. In a low scoring game I thought the difference was that Claremont had a bloke like Tom Lee on the end of it where his teammates could just put it up in the air to his advantage, and he’d go get it. It’s just so valuable in a tight game of footy.

I was chatting to a few people about Clarke. He’s pretty highly regarded by those who have seen a bit of him, and the consensus is that he’ll be good value for any club that picks him up based on the fact that until now he has been splitting his commitments between footy and cricket. He has good size, good athleticism, reads the play well and puts himself about a bit – even against much more mature bodies. There’s a lot to like about him, and it’s a shame we don’t (currently) have a pick in his range.

I’m not sure about Eastland. He has decent hands, reads the ball well and is a relatively smooth mover for his size, but my concern would be that I’m not sure if he’s quick enough to be a KPP or big enough to be a ruckman. I think you could do worse than take him as a rookie pick and see how he psychically responds to being in an AFL system.

My man-crush on Keifer Yu continues. He’s not the right age profile for a rookie list, but he’s a bloke who makes good decisions, puts his body on the line and has the skills to turn chances into goals for the team. Freo could use players like him.

All around a fun day out. Does anyone know how to get to this Joondalup place next weekend, and if there’s any good accommodation around up that way?

Watched most of that game and Claremont took some time to put their dominance on the scoreboard (3 posters in the first qtr alone) - but rarely looked troubled by the Weagles B-side.

But one player I like the look of from East Perth was the Sudanese(?) lad Ajang Ajang. Went in hard, has a great leap, kicked a couple of goals and had 28 hit outs to go with 6 marks and 8 tackles.

At 198cm, 89kg and 21 years old, he could be worth a punt as a rookie.

He has a bit of toe, and can kick it a long way. He had the goal of the game, and the miss of the game. He's very raw, but he looked a step above in his movement.

The thing I loved most about Bolton's game was the the bullets he was firing into Lee and other forwards. I know he's a mature age but he has a touch of class about him and also a bit of mongrel as he never shirks any physical stuff and would be handy to assist our young midfielders in the same way De Boer is at GWS.

I like his name - Ajang Ajang, there's no end to what fun you can have talking about him.

I have spruiked Keifer Yu for at least six years, he is a very very good footballer. Sadly he's entering his grandpa stage now, everyone missed that boat.

I tell you what, that redevelopment in Montysville is offering up some choice sites for the international headquarters of the Mooning Just For Fun group. It will be great seeing some life put back into the WAFL soon.

Yes Gumnut, the same four I mentioned earlier. Clark is expected to go in the top 20, particularly now that he has strung some good WAFL games together, Eastland is going to the state combine, Hardisty-ex Hawks has broken the league record for tackles and Bolton is imo the best midfielder in the comp. Same age as Pickett.

Now I understand our problem. Too many Claremont supporters. We beat the insolvents by 98 points see how the college boys go against them next week. We have some Lions to cull
