Bennell was a no show at the Doig but went to peel b&f the night before ??

The “Age” reported tonight that Bennell was informed about his tenure on Sat. arvo of the Doig. It would seem that the news didn’t sit well with the young fella, hence the no show at the Doig. If it’s linked to LN, then I think it could have been sorted well and truly before trade week or before Lachie decided to meet Brissie.

McClure (that ass clown with a rats nest on his scone) reporting that Bennell was told prior to the Doig that he was not wanted at Freo. If that’s true then I wouldn’t front up either.
On the one hand Freo making noises about holding Neale to his contract but on the other they look to break a contract agreed only a matter of months ago.
It stinks.
Freo must be paying overs for Lobb. We are hearing Hogan is no longer coming.
The place seems to be a mess in my opinion. Who would want to come to Freo?

No doubt this swapping of picks makes life difficult for the average punter about who wins or loses in trade outcomes but Brissie’s latest pick swap with the Suns, leaves the LN trade even more distant to getting it done. The Lions have received picks 32, 41, 44 and 77 in this year's draft, while the Suns acquired 24, 58 and 79.

So now, it would seem that their bargaining chip is pick 5. Clearly, this pick 5 has to bring roll gold to Freo, but doubt it’ll get Hogan from Melb, unless it can be used to acquire 2 first rounders from elsewhere. I’ll leave it to the experts. Just as well Belly and Rosich have got their ducks in a row.

Leigh Montagna was suggesting on yesterdays trade show that Brisbane's first round pick plus their next years first rounder would be a possible solution to get Lachie. He seems to hold Lachie in higher regards than most other commentators who are saying we are crazy asking for more than Pick 5. Maybe as an old midfield opponent of class.

Yeah Gumnut some of these journos have under valued Neale. I think a lot haven’t seen him play that often. To say Shiel is worth Essendons first pick this year and next and Neale only worth pick 5 is saying Shiel has much more value. I’m not so sure of that.

With what is rapidly becoming a repeat of the other Lachie deal last year - Freo are holding fast on wanting another late first round pick (to complete the Lobb trade - fair value IMHO) to go with their pick 5. According to The Worst today, LN is getting ‘extremely frustrated’ the Docker’ aren’t accepting tHe Brissie offer and May come out in the next few days and say so publicly. Sound familiar?

They prob should remember that a similar approach last year ended up costing GC big time and there is no reason why lightening won’t strike twice.

If Hogan & Shiel are worth two first round picks then so is LN. Neither of the other two have won a club B& F, let alone 2.

Ultimately Brissie will prob have to cough up next year’s first round pick, which we on trade for two first rounders this year (Port?). Send one to GWS for Lobb and package the other up with our pick 6 to Melb for Hogan - which they give to GC for May.

We’d end up with an improved first round draft pick this year, Lobb & Hogan. Now that’s something to get excited about.

Port won't be trading out of this draft with all the SA Talent this year if anything they would be trying to get more picks or move up the draft order.. I reckon we would be able to do a deal with Adelaide to just get the Lobb deal done.. pick 6, for pick 8 and 21 and then on trade that pick 21 to GWS for Lobb. I know they want a pick in the teens but its pretty close to that.
