When Collins was cut from the Dockers the knock on him was his kicking was unreliable. There were also suggestions his relationship with coach Ross Lyon had deteriorated.

And those kicking skills made him different to the majority at the club?

Don't think that relationship deterioration can be true because the players supposedly love Roly and vice versa.

The sigh factor is an amateur club has rectified his deficiencies.

To be honest I thought he got cut cause of his lack of run.

Getting cut from the Dockers for not being able to kick to standard? I can only assume given what remains on our list in terms of kicking ability his foot must not have been able to make contact with the ball.

If you aggregate everything:
this years draft position,
the holes on our list,
the behaviour of our coach,
stories like Collins,
the number and longevity of our injuries,
the concern over our game plan,
our skill level,
a CEO that buys a home game for 1ML against a low ranked opponent and assigns the Starlight game to it,
a hike in ticketing prices due to administrative bungling against the back drop of a miserable season,
the weekly shifting narrative around the direction the club is taking.

We've got massive problems right through our club. And its not just the coach.

I think the club is in free-fall.

I think the point you are missing here, hypen is the 'club' bit.

Its not being run as a club but more a two bit Jim's franchise. I'm not sure what is trying to be achieved here but every time some issue is raised with the coach, they double down. From what I understand, the 5 year contract extension was given 'after' the allegations of poor behaviour. Criticism of the game plan isn't new, nor is the observation of below AFL standard skills.

I think, and I may be wrong here, but I think that the people running the joint have no idea what they are trying to achieve not do they really know how to get there but they just don't want anybody to know that, so they keep pretending.

I will say that the ponzi scheme must stop this year. We use our first rounder and ride out the rest and instead load up on rookies. Next year we can start a club rebuild if the WAFC steps in and orders wholesale change in the management.

Collins got a bit stuck behind a few better players at Freo. Looking at our squad, he probably wasn't going to shift A Pearce or Hamling out of a starting spot. Logue is the same height and a lot more athletic. If we had a decent forward line Cox could probably fill that intercept marking role better. At the time we cut him Johnno was still playing his role.

While he was good at Peel, I don't think he played very well when he came up to the AFL. A few key forwards got hold of him a little, and while he had a good brain, his body always seemed a step slow for the AFL.

I hope for his sake he makes it, because apparently he's a good kid. There was an earlier article that suggested he had also shed some weight. If that's true, and he has improved his kicking, then I think he could be a useful player in the AFL.

I don't normally defend this Fremantle hierarchy but in all honesty he was the worst of the bunch of the key backs we had on our list...of course arguably. Logue, Cox, Pearce, Hamling and now Kerstan are better players/have more upside. Taylin Duman has come on since then and looks like a great 3rd tall/rebounding half back also so I think the call was understandable. Hamling, Pearce are the first two for the next 5+ years which leaves Logue, Cox (can play fwd), Kerstan, Duman and Logue to fight it out for 1-2 spots. Pretty healthy imo
