No I'm not saying that the head coach has no role in developing players skills. What I am saying is that the players also need to take ownership and some of the blame for not improving obviously deficient skills.

The best thing about the game yesterday was that it was a much more even team effort. Fyfe and Mundy didn’t have great games and yet we could have easily won. Most of the young guys contributed and guys like Sheridan had good games. Take away the first five minutes when we were still in Geelong mode and we would have won.
There was a stat presented during the telecast probably by Ross via Pav, but it showed that we have put double the amount of games into first years than any other team has. I think it was 92 games and next highest was Pies with mid forties. It means that on average we’ve had almost five first years in our team versus less than two for nearly everyone else. Add in players that only played a few games last year and the 8 wins doesn’t seem too bad. We were more experienced last year.

As Crumber pointed out Sheridan was pretty good yesterday. He's deserved his place in the side recently.

Whether he gets a contract extension I don't know. I think his name will be shopped around as it has before but it's not like you would get a lot for him.

Sheridan has developed a wonderful knack for being in the right place to present an option. The problem is our players keep kicking it to him. If we had better talent around him, Sheridan could be the most useful decoy in the league.

Noddy, you ask about Clint Wheeldon and the slime. Well I was listening to the ABC radio call of the slime - Melbourne game, and the commentary team were calling free kicks for the slime. I had to change stations it was so annoying.
