TOPIC: So what's a Pass Mark for 2019?

IMHO So what's a Pass Mark for 2019? 5 years 8 months ago #1

IMHO
Ok. I've read much banter this week of Boot vs Keep Ross and am largely undecided. But either way it seems he will steering the ship for the foreseeable future.
So looking forward, what is a pass mark for D-Landers at the completion of 2019?

Knocking on the door of 8?
Top 8?
Top 4?

For me, 12-13 wins is my mark (ie borderline top 8). This is not necassarily where i think we will be at, just where at least we need to be at!

Opinions?

I said at the start of the year we will win more at home than we will lose and I reckon next year will will be knocking them down away too. So low 8 or thereabouts for me.

Not necessarily how many wins but the way we play, how we win and how we lose. Playing a more attacking and aggressive style with more players willing to run harder and work for the team. And...not starting nearly every game with a spare down back. That would be a pass mark. Not sure it is achievable...
And...sad to see this rent for keeps ad appearing here. Another scheme that preys on financially excluded people with appalling rates of interest and shameless deception. mobile.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-27/compan...le-consumers/5921924

Top 8, 12-13 wins. With anything less and 1 year left on contract Ross will be in dire straits.

That is what we want as a pass mark Suker, and that will see us about 6th or even 5th spot. But good luck getting that next year, 2020 maybe, unless the bus comes past at the right time.

I think the Dockers will win 8 games, lose 5-6 games by at least 50+ points and finish 14th on the ladder. Home attendance will fall back to around 30,000. Some of our best and most important players will suffer seemingly minor, niggling injuries which will, baffling, become 'TBA' after a month or so.

Let's see if Ross Lyon survives the final year of his contract when the club is haemorrhaging support, sponsorship, falling revenue and good young players.

The best we can hope for, as supporters, is that things get no worse than this, or last season.

Suker, re your comment more players willing to run harder and work for the team

Could we change "harder" to "smarter". And regarding work for the team, why have Freo players, over the last few years, gone from handpassing to a teammate then shepherding, to handpassing then running to receive a handpass? This only creates more pressure rather than releasing it.

% over 100 and an average of over 80 points for. The rest will look after itself.

Yeah, running smarter sounds more, well, smarter. Interesting to note that the player who covered the most kms for us on the weekend was Taberner at around 14 kms. What does it all mean? Well, he must have been very frustrated, leading here and leading there seeing kicks going nowhere near him. Or, as you said Raggy, it probably means he and the rest have to run smarter.

I'll wait to see what Jezza suggests and divide by 2.

Suker, I was thinking more along the lines of "Being allowed to run smarter"

I'd be okay with still being realistically in finals contention by Rd20, however that ended up panning out.

I reckon halving Jezza's call will be problematic Guy. I mean, the flag would be easy enough, but you'd need an oxy-torch for the cup.

A pass mark for 2019?

Average at least 12 goals per game
win 14 games
win a final

What I expect? Less. Much less.

But hey lets aim for at least a pass mark. Lets try to increase our scoring. Another year of finishing bottom six should be ringing alarm bells for everybody.

Speaking of alarm bells, just what were our KPIs for the last 3 years? Did we actually have any? If not, why not?
