Jason, you look and DON"T see a problem, so you are not bothered with solutions as such. To identify the problem, you have to admit there is a problem. The reasons are necessary to justify the action taken.

We poached Lyon from the Saints, and we should have been wary about doing it given that the Saints were hesitating in holding him.
I don't see any side whose performance is worse than ours over this season. Some have not won as many games but they actually have a system in place that will work for them. Oddly enough, the side I believe is in as much troble as us is the Bulldogs. For the same reason, an overtaxing game plan.

Just going to jump in here Jason and point out that changing board, coach, assistants, fitness, recruitment etc is not a short term solution.

No on in their right mind actually believes there is any way we can be competitive with good top 8 sides in the next 18 months.

Even Lyon is saying that in his most recent pressers.

The game last Saturday was just a symptom - but it it was telling. Breaking a record for consecutive goals against in the modern era, with team defense and flooding, in wet conditions, under the "master" defensive coach of the last 10 years. You can't over state how bad that is. It's not just another thrashing.

But the reality is that our club - across most departments - is substandard, and as a result we are completely f^cked. It is going to take years to dig ourselves out of this hole.

So yes, there are no quick fixes, but there still have to be changes made to address the systemic failure that this club is beset by.

Also note that in anticipation of a pathetic crowd on the weekend, Docker Central are already selling cut price tickets at less than season member seat prices. Again.

Derby 12, with a revamp of the administration, reboot of the football department and a restump of the coaching box, the players will give results pretty quickly. It has to start from the top down. We have some talented players on our list, as many as sides in the lower top 8, and if they get back to playing the attacking footy they were playing before being drafted we will get results.

What are you talking about, systematic failures. Prior to Roly’s arrival, we weren’t exactly a well oiled machine. Let’s go back further. How was Connolly’s tenure and before him. They were all failures because none got us to our maiden GF. I could list the problems that besieged the club during those times but I’ll save my keystrokes. For what it’s worth, with a few tweaks we should become relevant again. Sooner than most would like to think.

Jezza you’re dreaming ..... have a look at coaching young clubs with limited game time - you need to modify your game plan, rotations and player mix. All Roly’s doing is blooding the new players without any change to the above. The guy is done and dusted. He has as much credibility as Turnball.

Jezza, like most of your predictions, it's wild, overly optimistic and in no way based on reality.

If we are comparing past coaches then you should be aware that the last three years is firmly into Drum territory

A couple of points that leap to mind...

Firstly, Jason, to accuse people of cherry-picking details to suit their argument because they have highlighted Lyon's record over the past three years is really just hypocrisy. Three full seasons is hardly a blip in the scheme of things and more recent seasons are far more relevant than whatever achievements came before that. Repeatedly harking back to past (near) glories is cherry-picking by definition.

Secondly, this thread arose to query why no-one is calling for Beveridge's head after the Doggies' fall from grace. As has been pointed out, actually winning the premiership buys you some grace. But if they perform just as badly next year (ie for the third year in a row) I would expect there to be some serious pressure on the coach and wouldn't be at all surprised if he was walked.

I’ll come in Jason’s defence here. 3 full seasons is hardly a lifetime. Melbourne took 12 years, Brisbane, since the days of Matthew’s, haven’t been an overnight success. If only they kept their players. GWS, the rolls Royce, and with a sound and exciting game plan, are making up the numbers. I can go on but why bother. There’s the get rid of all a sundry agenda I’m battling with and it’s getting tiresome.

I don't know why we need any tweaks Jezza. You said we were definitely finals bound this year and there would be no excuses for Roly if we didn't get there.
But of course in another of your countless, even by your own words, outrageous, claims and backflips here you go again with even more excuses and reasons.
