I don't need to hear from Nat Fyfe, I know he does his job. I want to hear from the bloke who sacked Harvey and promised a period of sustained success.

Agreed and I've got to admit that I'm surprised by the sounds of silence coming from the club hierarchy so far today. It's almost like something is brewing and I don't mean Roly's herbal tea. Interesting point though is how invested in Roly's presence are certain players and if he were to get the chop would they feel obliged to follow him out the door. I'm talking older guys like Fyfe and newer ones like Langdon and Brayshaw who have professed their liking for the Lyon way.
If he were gone apart from paying out the contract what else would we lose and how much could be set back in playing strength?

The 42 players on our list would be gutted if Roly was shown the door. Some on the list like HB, have mentioned that Roly has been like a father figure in his life. I’m fearful that players like Langdon, Darcy, Cox etc who are not WA products would request a trade. Replace Roly at your peril.

I think you are right Jezza and that makes our situation a bit tricky. For any of those doubters out there they should read Pav's life story book where he was glowing in his opinion of Ross and thought by comparison Harvey was a bit of a goose. Do we stay the course with Ross for his 2 years which I see as 2019 in the finals and then 2020 challenge seriously for the Premiership or do we flick him lose heaps of money, some top end talent and then have to wait at least another 5 years for a glimpse of success.

While you're at it, tell us how we suddenly replace Mundy, Sandi, Ballantyne, Pearce D, Johnson at a minimum in the next 2 years and suddenly, inexplicably improve to be the best team in the league?

It's well known Pavlich found Lyon to have the systematic and complex approach he'd been wanting from a coach. Most footy players might not get or want that, given the chookheadedness of most of the team on the field, it not an outrageous assumption that they don't, or he's a terrible communicator.

Never mind what pavlich thinks of him. Look at the results over 3 years. Point to another club Lyon has been at where the players have left en masse after he's gone. Hasn't happened. Last time I checked, players played for money and the chance to win regularly. Keep this up another 2 years, and they're far more likely to leave.

Surely I’m not the only concerned soul that thinks paying out a coach before contract expiration and getting an untried bloke to suddenly make Freo relevant again. Even Clarkson won’t know about our list quickly enough to turn things around. We’ve got a list manager to replace, don’t go finding a new coach at the same time. It’ll be catastrophic, worse then what we saw in Geelong. All it’ll do is sell more newspapers in the West.

I know Fyfe does a great job as a player. Is there any evidence he's a great captain? Few have any hesitation in speculating that a coach has lost the playing group with a performance like that, yet the question is never asked whether a captain has lost the playing group.

I'm not sure how the players could put in a performance like that and look their captain in the eye.

It's worth noting that the Crows debacle in 2009 happened when Pav was injured.
