Given that next week is a send off for Johnno and Danyle Pearce, its a shame that Collingwood need to win to finish in the top 4. But if they win and finish 3rd they'll probably have to play West Coast in the first week of finals. Given they don't like travel, maybe they should lose, finish 5th and play Geelong at the MCG instead.

Sydney - Hawthorn looms as the clash of the round, as the winner is likely to finish top 4.
GWS - Melbourne finish 5 and 7 or 7 and 5 depending on who wins.
West Coast need to beat Brisbane to finish top 2. Brisbane need to throw everything at them.
But Geelong and Richmond can relax and rest all their tired/injured players. They finish 1st and 8th no matter what they do.

Yeah rr, check the numbers again.

If Port wins and Geebung loses, then Port will move into the 8 and Geebung down to 9

On second thoughts, fat chance of Geebung losing. Maybe Port can win really big.

I never considered the option of Geebung losing to GC. So Geebung will know if they have to try after Friday night.

A nice set of results has us beat the Pies, and Brissie beat the Eagles. Then depending on the Swans/Hawks game the Eagles either end up playing the Hawks at the MCG or the Swans at Optus. Neither are options they'd like.

No need to rest any players - they all have the knee-jerk reaction, Auskick bye round before the finals now.

What genius from AFL House - let’s have absolutely no footy at all right at the pointy end of the season. Yet they want to succeed (with money that should be invested in traditional footy states like, say, WA) in non-AFL states by giving every other code a free kick when it counts?

God forbid the AFL do something about equalising the travel and draw arrangements that should underpin a national competition.

No, let’s just give the Victorian teams (in particular) even more advantage by allowing them rest their weary souls. Before potentially having to jump on a aeroplane for maybe the 5th or 6th time that season - but not back-to-back - should that otherwise be the case.

Handed the Bulldogs the leg-up they needed to win in 2016 and it could easily do the same thing for Colonwood this season.

In- D Pearce, the boys play well for him (it couldn't be worse than last week) and fellow retiree Johno (holds his spot).

Hamling, Bennell (good news story of the week to deflect negative press away from the club)

Sandi back, (but if still injured) not why not give Strnadica a go, but somehow I don't see this happening as it should have already happened given his form. It looks like his card has already been marked.

I would love to see North and Dixon get a game but probably unlikely as they have not been able to string enough games together due to injury.

Out- Cerra should have already been given a rest, so not sure this will happen, (but has played well enough to hold his spot), Ballantine, McCarthy, Grey.

I hope Danyle gets a great sendoff, hes been great even though I bagged him off and on for his disposal at times. Another great servant who gave his all and never slacked off once he got relegated back to Peel.

And the Great Man, Johnno. One last effort son, the poor guy could hardly bend down to pick up the ball on the weekend. My day will be complete if I just see one more Johnno pirouette, then the candy sell around a bewildered clutching half baked Pie and then a one handed ball drop down to a lazy pin point 30 m pass. Pure poetry. One last glimpse of genius is all I ask.

I`ll even stop into the Kebab shop and have myself a double doner with sour cream on the way home in his honour.

Talking about AFL House and teams flying. There should be a cap placed on the maximum number of frequent flyer points each team is allowed. Which inevitably means that the Victorian teams will have to travel more than the QLD & WA teams hence more home games for us.
