Saturday's game was nothing short of a catastrophically bad effort. Should we be surprised that people outside the club are questioning what we're doing? WE don't even know what we're doing.
I was supportive of Lyon up to about midway through this year as I clung on to my belief that the leadership at our club had a long-term plan and we just had to be patient. And perhaps there still is a plan! But the problem is that it's not communicated to us beyond bland, meaningless "rebuild" spin that gets served up at every presser.
All season I've been wondering how bad a loss would have to be to snap Lyon out of his chilled 'nothing-to-see-here' demeanour in the post-game pressers and ironically the only time I've seen him show any emotion was when Brayshaw was sent to hospital. Ross, we know you care for your players but where was your rage at yesterday's loss? I wanted to see steam coming out your ears, promising to roll heads, tearing your shirt asunder in self-flagellation, any sort of emotional response! Show us that you give a *@#!
Perhaps we've endured mediocrity and failure for that long now that even our own leadership think we'll just soak it up.
