Cletus, everyone is hurting atm. I just read it has taken Melb 12 years and a lot of nonsense from a truckload of coaches to be a contender in 2018. If you’re not careful your wish could resembled a Melb. Oh and by the way, who out there would make a good replacement for Lloyd. We’ve got a pick 7 to use wisely.

And didn't we do all the above at the end of 15?? We admitted to trying to copy hawthorn, got 2 of their premiership players in as assistant coaches (- and presumeably 'quality people" to help RoLy out), announced we were spending the summer sharpening our new "hawthorn -like skills" , and...well...look where it got us.

cletus,

look at our kicking skills, hand ball skills, decision making and structure and tell me we actually tried to copy Hawthorn.

As opposed to talking about trying to copy Hawthorn.

Theres a bit of a gap between what they do and what we did

Jezza ...well said. But I reckon a of us on here are desperate for a solution, and...well...a fair few of us reckon we have one. And it involves moving the coach on.

I would think absolutely none of us would think that way, if the fellow showed some 'humility', and tried to "change things around a bit.". But he has stuck steadfast to a failed gameplan - and yes, this can be quantified as such - and not shown any hint of change.

Even said as much in his latest pressa...that "we were following a gameplan and we'll stick by it because we know its right"...(something like that anyway...)

Just be nice to hear and say..." well, we might have this a tad wrong for the cattle we've got, and we might havr to try something different for the moment. ".

I live in hope....

Worring about the about the muddy water but ignoring the fact that the swamp is up to the armpits and full of crocs.
It doesn't matter what the players say about their coach they are in an unequal relationship. They are dependant on the coaches favour to play each week and as such anything they say about the coach should be considered with this in mind.
We have all seen what happens to players our coach does not approve of.

It would be of better value to focus on the source of our club's problems:
Yes our coach is lacking, yes our coach had his contract extended when it was obvious he was already under performing, yes our club has acquired players that are substandard but let go others that should have been retained. Yes some good players have been damaged under the current regime's style of play, yes the club changed headquarters away from the Fremantle heartland because why ? and so on ....
A sustained succession of poor decision making is the crux of the club's problem.
The ethos of an organisation is always determined from the top.
Dicing and slicing coaches, players, selectors, medical staff or any other groups within our club will not resolve anything while the same regime remains.
Time for a management rebuild ...... the good stuff will follow !

Well I'm fully expecting an announcement about a review any day now.

No doubt that'll identify how to achieve the good stuff mentioned above.

Yep thanks Jezza I'm with you a lot of the way but I am just concerned as to our club's ability to make the right coach change particularly when considering the past mistakes.
Cheers

Jason, I detest your version of being a supporter...aka blind, cheering the boys ..just a groupie really. I am invested in Freo both in terms of time spent at games and watching tv as Well as 10 years membership.. So I will be critical where I see fit and rent and rave also. How about you just keep on going to those games and cheering on your hero's 'come on Pav, nice kick Haze

Hi Cletus,
Ain't that the truth.
Still think we need another 50 steps back from the problem to see the real problem not just the little bits and pieces that have happened as a result of some very poor decision making

Cheers

The principle characteristic that separates humans from animals is the ability to rationalise anything.
The club and it's performance is well below par, perhaps best described as haemorrhaging.

Dream on !

Jezza et al.... if you are wondering where Freo will be in another 5 years take a long look at St Kilda....the train wreck after he left the building.

I recall. West coast in their last season under worsfold had appalling skills and would laugh every time masten got the ball.
I then remember Adam Simpson arriving at west coast and in one of his first pressers was asked about his impression of the team. He said they were incredibly fit but their skill level was below par.
Now watch them play and the improvement occurred even in their first season.
Our coaching panel rewards effort over skill and even the west in reviewing the derby said ‘ effort and skill beat effort”.
The man does not value skill highly enough , otherwise how does Sutcliffe and his ilk survive the butchering of the ball. He reluctantly drops unskilled players who are regiment in following his game plan and is snarky when questioned about it.
All I can hear from supporters who fear change - don’t change the coach because better the devil you know!
We are already in hell and the freo brand is being irreparably damaged not just with the football public , but with the players and potential recruits.
Seriously even if ross succeeded who wants to watch footy being played that way.
He has to go but he won’t , no one in their right mind would touch him.
He is certainly not the only one to blame for this fiasco , bond , Dale Alcock and Peter bell should stick to his inate Seinfeld observations on the ABC then be a serious footy administrator on our board.
The club is a joke and it’s so sad we have people defending the indefensible.
Some one said the situation is complicated to simply blame ross or the board. Yeah , maybe but Sometimes it is also pretty simple.
In this case it is simply pure incompetence.
No one and I mean no professional team gets 23 consecutive goals scored against , even east freo would of stopped that.
For the players and coaching to be so bereft of any idea to simply score a goal was incredulous.

Peter Daicos has stated that Freo assistants are - literally - walking out of the box because they are being ignored.

Some of you will say that Daicos is a a loser and has no idea and just hates Ross Lyon and defensive football.

There may be something to that, but it ties in with with what I have heard about Sumich's departure.

So my question is - would it matter how much quality we stacked around Ross?

Over to you Jezza.
