Still no explanation for resigning of Ballas. There are other small forward types on our list who are younger and have contributed more this season him including Brady Grey, Mitch Crowden, Sam Switkowski, Stefan Giro and, dare I say it Brandon Matera. Of these I think Brady is our best pressure forward and I believe is out of contract. If he is delisted whilst Ballas is retained it will be a disgrace and a step backwards.

Great to know that Roly is one of the highest paid coaches in the AFL. Good for him to know that it's not performance based.

So it is ok to say keep Lyon coz the players reckon he's alright, but don't keep Balla's even though the players think he's alright. Read what Cox said about him a couple of months ago. Oh and by the way, for what it's worth I reckon his performance this year has been better than, and shown more effort than Lyon's.

Polly, considering Steve makes us heave, I would dispute that. He has cost me quite a few heaves over the last decade.

It's been a long haul - and I'm touch and go at the moment - but I reckon I'll outlast the last of the Steves. I've seen one bugger off and his mate is teetering on the precipice at the moment.

If a chain is only as strong as its weakest link the clusterbuck of last weekend was something else again.
We had broken links all over the place and as is obvious it doesn't take many to bring the whole system undone. We had youth, tired youth, confused youth and once it unravelled nothing could be done. It explains why Roly said having 7 back was pointless. We were going to get smashed anyway – and I'd add what doesn't kill ya (hopefully) only makes you stronger.
It wasn't the coach out there making the mistakes. It wasn't the coach that was responsible for the injuries, It wasn't the CEO or ass coaches – it was the players we had on the park that were responsible. Yeah it was a disaster and I couldn't watch the last 15 minutes either. But I'll put it down to an aberration and that doesn't mean we wont get smashed again sometime but its unlikely to be as bad as that again.
I'm not going to name players but probably nearly everyone of them can play better or at least collectively put in a better effort.
To their credit they did play on at every opportunity – even though bad choices were made but in the long term that is the style we will embrace.
We've got some good young talent and some very good senior players and a bunch more who are striving to make the next level and only time will tell if they are good enough.
I'll back'm in. I'll be there to watch them grow. (blaming isn't an option)

Larkin, the coach coaches them in the game plan they use, trains (or doesn't train) them in skills, and selects the side. The football department manages drafting, recruiting and aspects of training and injury recovery, the admin and board oversees the appointment of all these areas. How can the blame be sheeted back to players who are following the instructions of these experts (and I use the word experts with the usual cautions of taking it's meaning literally)

I have never seen an absolute historical pathetic performance explained.

Therefore nothing no mater how bad will be due to incompetence.

Nothing to see at Freo , lets keep going like the past 20 plus years.

What a joke.

I must admit surprise that the media at large haven't cranked out the "he's lost the players' " narrative.

I'm fairly confident he's lost a few.

Such a cop out from Rosich there. Blames everything on injuries which have been no where near as bad as many other teams and accepts no blame whatsoever.

That it took RL and co so long to realise the side was on the slide and we should rebuild when most observers realised that fact midway through 2015, proves how slow to act in the face of failure they are. They pretend like the draft before 2017 is the start of the rebuild when they were forced to turf the older players and play youth 2 games into 2016. That's rebuilding.

That's when we should have been officially rebuilding and setting up for our next proper tilt but instead we signed up older players the likes of D Pearce, traded picks for middle aged players we could get cheaper and generally half arsed it.

We've left ourselves with very few quality draft picks to turnover the list and declaring large numbers incoming through the draft and debuting for the side does not equate to rebuilding well. our side on the weekend was not that young, instead being the equivalent to many others around the league. Even worse, we'll be going into another draft with few quality draft picks this year so most teams will add more quality youth to their squads than us.

It's hard to imagine things getting worse over the next few years but that's the road we're being driven down.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.
