I really hope Freo get him back as an assistant at the end of his Suns career (though perhaps not as a skills coach). I remember Harvey gushing about his character as he rehabbed his broken leg, and I don't think anyone has every had a bad word to say to him.

As an aside, Barlow of all people probably has grounds to hold a grudge against Lyon, yet he had only positive things to say about him. Mick seems like too good a bloke to really sledge someone, so I'm not sure how much you can read into it, but wonder how many ex-players speaking glowingly of Lyon as coach before some of Lyon's critics acknowledge it's possible that players really like playing for him.

Apart from a silly thought that we should rookie list MB if the Suns delist him, I hope he ends up down in Melbourne where he'd get maximum opportunity to work in media (hopeless up in the Gold Coast).

He's so authentic, sort of like a Bob Murphy only funny, and the type of cove need more of. Mainly I'd just like to see him do well - he deserves it.

Barlow gave his all at Freo. Like Mzungu and De Boer, they were all rookie listed when they made their AFL career. In 2013, our GF team was littered with players that were not highly skilled but were super with their effort. We played against a highly skilled talent laden Hawks. You don’t win premierships on effort alone.

OK, I am just going to put it out there......If the Suns do not re-sign Barlow, then Carlton would be seriously mad not to offer him a contract. On all evidence, Carlton need quality inside mids; currently they have 1 (Cripps)
Freo had 3 (Neale, Mundy Fyfe).

Mayne's disappointing reception has been discussed on another thread, but great to see Mickey B as GC best player by a mile yesterday.

Don't understand why he hasn't been getting a regular game, but hope he plays on next year.

I find it interesting that one of the new trends in football is to bring in an older mentor type player to help with the young kids. eg Stevie J, Mitchell, Hodge. There was even talk of bringing Goddard over here. Mickey B appeals as a great fit for this. Pity we got rid of him.
