Fremantle have secured the signature of veteran midfielder David Mundy for another season, with the 292-game player excited about playing on in 2019.

Mundy has been one of Fremantle’s best and most consistent players in his 14th season, taking on multiple roles in the midfield and forward line.

With 17 goals this year, Mundy has already eclipsed his season best while continuing to win a lot of the football with 22.8 disposals per game.

The 33-year-old’s reliability and experience has been vital in guiding a young Fremantle squad on and off the field.

“I’m fortunate enough to be offered another contract, so I’ll be continuing my individual journey for at least another year at Fremantle,” Mundy said.

This time of year, signings like Mundy, Ballas and others makes our end of the year a little easier to cope with. No doubt it’s been a tumultuous year but like every other year, there’s plenty to like going into 2019. You never know we could add more quality to our list and a couple of high profile coaches to help with our finals aspirations.

It’s probably been said many times before but it’s worth saying again. I think Mundy is one of if not the most underrated player in the AFL, he is AAA class.

For years I was grateful for Dustin Fletcher being in the league because it was comforting to know there was still someone in the league older than I was.

I'm now grateful that Mundy will be in the league another year, because it's comforting to know there is someone still in the league that I could beat in a running race.
