Very often the measure of whether someone has done a 'good job' or not is subjective, and involves a whole bunch of unquantifiable perceptions. In professional sport, thought, things can be objectively measured:
I. We are currently 13th, with 8 wins from 20 matches; this will be our third consecutive losing season, and across the last three years we have 18 wins from 64 matches (a very ordinary 28.13% winning record).
II. Our first draft selections (not all first-round picks) between the 2010 and 2016 drafts (inclusive) - players who clubs are naturally inclined to invest a fair bit into, including games not on merit - have managed a total of 210 games, out of a possible 736 (regular-season matches only; an abysmal 27.3% playing rate).
III. By contrast, players who we have delisted that have subsequently been picked up by other clubs in that period have played a total of 143 games, of a possible 278 (a playing rate of 51.4%) (this increases to 193 of 342 if we include Sam Menegola, which I am prepared to acknowledge would be unfair).
IV. This year we have played before an average home crowd of 41,808 (41,043 if you include the Round 3 match against Gold Coast) - on average, we have 11,184 fewer people at our home games than Weak Coast.
Ultimately we have a lot of improving to do, in every area.
