I reckon on those figures there is a massive gap on the goals and tackles
Just going on 20 games played
20 x 2.4 is 48 goals
20 x 1.3 is 26 goals
I still see what you are saying though. I reckon Tabs is probably more of a big contested marking forward than Hogan.
Hogan gets all around the ground and is way better at ground level and obviously puts on more tackle pressure.
The fact that Tabs can go in a pinch hit in the ruck gives him value.

There is one important thing we are all missing.. Is that if we do recruit Hogan, he will at some stage spend a month in the WAFL learning how to play Key Defender after a slow start to round 1.. So yes Tabs will outscore Hogan if he comes to Freo.

So Morgan, Tabs has a slightly higher strike rate against the top sides.

Besides all this 'my dads bigger than your dad' stuff is all pretty silly.

Who is more valuable? Well Tabs kicks goals for Freo and Hogan doesn't....and likely never will. As far as Freo is concerned Tabs is of more value for just that reason. When Hogan starts doing stuff for Freo we can have this conversation again.

Tabs would probably have a better strike rate if he wasn't being played behind the ball so much...or indeed downfield so much. I've yet to see Hogan playing in the defensive 50 yet I've seen Tabs play at some stage in every game this year, including last Sunday.

You might even see him kick a lot more goals per game if our game plan included more deep forwards. Lets see how he goes once he plays under a less defensively minded coach...then compare apples with apples.

And I didn't say this in the start of the thread. I said something different. But the point I want to get across is we have that player that some think we need to give Cerra and a 1st round pick for.

We got him as a rookie and if he plays 20 games next year he'll kick 50 goals. He just took longer than you'd like.

Two things: First, I can't believe Hypen has used some sort of hoodoo to end Jesse's season just to prove a point. You're better than that Hypen.

Second, who watches Talking Footy? If you were, on purpose, trying to assemble a more annoying and unwatchable group of blowhards, I'm not sure you do better than Talking Footy. Is Luke Darcy the least annoying panellist? How is that even possible? Why does anyone think that a show with the name 'talking' in its title could benefit from Campbell Brown being involved? It's so confusing.

Believe it or not and I know this will blow some minds from the recruit a key forward at all cost mob, Freo actually doesnt need a key forward. At least not as the most pressing issue. Tabs,Cox and Dixon provide plenty of tall timber with McCarthy and even potentially Fyfe and Logue in the wings as backup mediums.

I would list getting a key forward down around number 10 in the most important things to do next list. How much more valuable would be a Toby Greene, DeGoey, Stephenson, Breust type be right now?
What about a forward coach that can coach leading patterns?
Whos going to back up Hodor in the ruck?
Who will replace the almost irreplaceable Barra Mundy in the next year or so??
etc etc
One things for sure, dont use number 6 to get another lumbering tall forward prone to injuries like Hogan
