Available is the key term Mushroom.

There’s no point having forwards 130m from the ball, so there are times both teams won’t have anyone in the forward line. That’s modern football. I could show you the same photo of Carlton or Richmond’s forward line and it would mean just as little.

The trick is to have players in the 50 when you need them. We’ve done that for the last two months. We just don’t use the ball well enough to make up for the fact out forwards aren’t that good.

Morgan, when they are leading away from the kicker, they are not where we need them. The few times we had players leading at the ball it worked. Again starting and continuing with 7 man backline, against the worst side in the comp.

It’s all an uprovable argument but I would bet anything that if I saw images before me like this less, Freo would have kick significantly more goals.

What’s indisputable is that the number of times I have seen this “setup” before me has significantly contributed to my lack of enjoyment of footy in 2018 and lack of hope for the immediate future of exciting scoring footy from Fremantle.
