I agree that he should be kept. His lack of fitness talk is interesting considering Roly said that Jones wasn't strong or fit enough yet either. Do we have a fitness coach?

Interested to know how Dockerlanders or the club are going to need and keep Sandi, Jones, Meek, Strnadica and Apeness on our list and still try and get Lobb. That's an awful lot of ruckmen. Yes, Apeness was drafted as a forward but he's a ruckman now according to Roly/jezza and the same could be said of Lobb.

Yes of course FDB. Makes it even more complicated. Strnadica is the only one who could be de-listed due to re-signing of Apeness and Meek & Jones on first year of contracts. Darcy is also signed for next year. Unless Sandi retires?

Just had a quick recheck of the Rookie list rules and rookies can be retained on a Clubs’ Rookie List for up to 3 years (provided they compete Form 32....etc).

So based on that the club is quite able to keep Strnadica on as a rookie if they have other plans for the main list vacancies we’ll have at season’s end.

And can I make the case that if Sandi is willing and able to around again - he should. It’s not necessarily about how many games he plays but the experience, guidance and skills he can impart onto our other young ruckman that makes him so valuable. Sure he could retained as a coach but, with such a young & an inexperienced ruck group, having 211 on the park 12-15 times for onfield example and support would a huge advantage for us - long-term.

Having known 2 sets of parents of 2 colts boys from same group (2015-6) down at East Freo the feedback i got at the time was he was a very lax trainer and needed motivation on the track. The 2 parents i know from completely diff environments and had no affilliation to each other yet said same issue.
Whilst he played state u18s as key forward/ruck and displayed good ohead marking and a reliable kick(2 or 3goals in cuppla game as i remember?), still was not selected in AFL pre draft camp and was relagated to Wa camp instead.Dunno if the was meant to be a kik up backside or what?
I also dunno how hes trainingg at peel but u would imagine hes got message from the Boss or someone.
He has talent no doubt, and he seems to be really performing now, hopefully turns out to be a rookie bargain!!

The rookie list should be used for big kids who could grow into big men and be useful, for mature guys who have dominated at a lower level but never been given a chance, or young kids who have talent but for whatever reason fell outside the elite pathways (ie, too small, went to a public school).

Strnadica fits easily into the first category. Given our limited draft picks this year, it seems a no-brainer to give him another professional pre-season and see what happens.
