There was a skinny, ridiculously tall young fella from East Freo rookie listed by us in 2001.
Took a few years to build a tank and he went to win 4 AA jumpers and 2 Doig’s.
First played in the seniors as a 20 year old.
Strnadica was rookied in 2016, will be 21 by the start of next season and is about 20kg lighter than Sandi mentioned above.
I hope the club persists and elevates him to the main list as there will be at least 6 players, IMHO, who will retire or move on at season’s end. We currently only have two draft picks (6 & 78), so even with PSD & Rookie picks we are going to need to think outside the box a bit.
For what it’s worth, I’d like to see all our current rookies retained and/or elevated to the main list. Nyhuis, Giro, Duman, Banfield & Strnadica have all shown something worth developing.
Strnad’s is a project player but unlike Moller - he has always focused on AFL - so there’s no plan B to jump back to another sport.
It’s not like we’re flush with tall’s who can keep themselves on the park??
