On paper looks a more potent team but on form Matera, Cox, Macca and Tucker have given us nothing lately so cannot understand dropping Duman , Giro and Scott. Just have to get something from these 4 if we are to be any chance, gotta be last chance for a few of them.

Well I am looking forward to the possibility of seeing a forward line consisting of Tabs, Cox, McCarthy, Walters, Balla & Grey, this on paper looks like our best combination with two genuine tall marking targets, plenty of pressure applied by Balla & Grey, hopefully allowing Cam some freedom to play himself back into form and of course the finishing skills of Walters.
Just hope the coaches let them stay forward long enough to have an impact.

I agree Eventually. Cox and Taberner need to be allowed to play the rest of the season out as genuine forwards. No more forcing them to play 2 roles. It has never worked for us and never will. Did Lyon or any other coach ask Pav to ruck for us? No, Johnno, Clarke or Bradley were thrown into that role. Just because the latest craze is to play only 1 ruckman, doesn't mean it is the most effective team balance for us. A lot of teams only have 1 ruckman so are limited for choice, we are not. Try Strdinica up forward as backup ruckman, and switch Ballas and him/Darcy off the bench to play 2/3 talls 4/3 smalls to take advantage of opposition weaknesses.

I have been pretty vocal in my opinion around McCarthy’s selection this year, but I am happy to see his selection alongside Taberner and Cox. I hope he flourishes. I hooe that Taberner is ready for AFL level.
I actually think that Cox is a good option as forward/ruck.
Crowden would seem an obvious swap for Giro and will be good for both to have these games under their belts for next year. I think both have something to offer.
With at all the small forward types named it looks like the club is trying to sharpen up its position on these players. My preference of Ballantyne/Grey/Matera would be Grey. I like his strength and physical approach. His apparent lack of skill doesn’t seem to be that much of a feature in the other two’s games anyway. I am still not willing to join the consensus on this sight around Matera until he gets the chance to play in a functioning team. He is currently starting in the centre square way more than he should be.
