Then I can see Nick Blakey and Tarryn Thomas (academy picks) being bid on before our pick. So our hope of getting an key position target with our pick is zero. Dam

If you where GC though wouldn’t you match the offer then force a trade like the Crows did with Dangerfield. This would put pressure on say the Pies (if they are the preferred option) as the Hawks and Tigers will jump in and try poach him.

Yes Hypen but it is about West Coast ladder position. Because they finish near the top of the ladder their compo will likely be just after their first pick like GC with theirs. Gold Coaat pick is before us that’s why our pick slips down the order. A Gaff compo will not push us down the order.

Really? So potentially the Slime could end up with A top 5 pick as compo? So far every compo has taken into account how much that player is going to be paid but the actual pick is determined by the receiving teams ladder position.

I see what you mean Hypen but that has yet to occur. Not even when the Dangerfield compo was a pick in the mid teens. I think you will find if it was deemed to be unfair compo a pick directly after the last will be given ie pick 18 and 19. Anyway happy to see the Slime get Stooged.

May isnt a free agent ...there would be no compo pick for him
Blakey and Thomas are players who shouldnt be on Freo's radar
So the worst case scenario is one extra player taken even though the pick is three further back
Does GC find out their compo pick possibility before they choose to match it then trade him out?
