Freo66, it's true we only have Tucker and Nyhuis who we drafted, but we traded our first pick to get Bennell, and used the pick we received from Melbourne for Balic to take North in the 2017 draft.

But yeah, not our best effort.

But factoring that those 2 wont likely be on our list next year.

And with 1 early pick in the draft we are going to have to offload to get any sort of pick in the draft.

Well...to be honest, I feel a bit sorry for Melbourne...

There's a number of issues here. All of them pretty obvious...but couple of clubs have been 'ripped off' to my mind, but then you could conversely say, that both clubs probably didn't do much homework upon there draft/trade selections.

Can't force anyone to play AFL footy, but going into a draft would give a fair indication that you 'want to have a go'. Sad that he has decided to throw away the opportunity that thousands would love to have.

I'd love to sit him down with a Menogola, or a Banfield, or a Barlow or a Luke Ryan...or even a bloke like Nick Suban for that matter.

I'm sure both clubs have been working on him....must have been terribly frustrating for both.

To be fair, Freo have been damned lucky to be able to offload him for 'something' ...albeit pick 66.

Becoming an AFL footballer is fancied as the 'Australian Dream', but to be honest I think it's a lifestyle that not many are actually capable of sustaining. The scrutinity, the conjecture, the rumours; I would gladly do with out it all in my life. Nominating for yhr draft means nothing in my opinion. Is anyone on this board doing what they wanted to do when they were 17?
The draft will always be a lottery.

It’s a shame; he had talent, but unfortunately not everyone gets to experience life in the ideal way. Good on him for making his own call though - and he’ll always be a member of the first ever Peel Thunder premiership team!
