I'm hoping it's not true but one of the news website is saying that according to Paul Hasleby, Bennell has suffered anoher calf injury. Doesn't seem to be anything said from the club.

Classic Hasleby. Fremantle will play him now just to prove a point.

Winning derbies even in retirement.

I like how the club has changed their tune regarding Harley and the position he should be playing. Instead of looking to build him up as a forward just so he can get a little run around in the first 22, they're playing him in the middle at Peel to justify his use there at AFL level.

Nevermind you now have to be fitter to play forward than in the middle with all the running into defense required by forwards in a RL side before sprinting back towards goal when we get the footy. When 18/19 year olds without much running work at AFL level like Cox and Crowden have been leading our gps results for distance covered, you know there's a problem with the game plan and the requirements to play as a forward.

Harley is fit enough now to jog around our defensive 50m, give him a run so we can at least marvel at his movement and disposal.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I'm guessing most will have received just then the 'Injury update: Harley Bennell' from the Club:

High performance manager Jason Weber has given an update on Harley Bennell's calf after the midfielder came off late for Peel Thunder against West Perth on Saturday.

Weber confirmed that Bennell sustained an injury to his left calf.

"Harley had an incident late in the WAFL game at the weekend," Weber said.

"At the moment he's being assessed to determine the extent of the damage and we'll see how that progresses."

Pretty unfortunate. Hopefully it's just an abundance of precaution.

We are now getting to one of our lowest if not lowest point in Freo history.

Unfortunately significant amount of supporters left at 3/4 time after witnessing a sub standard AFL display by freo. To be completely obliterated out of the middle show the total lack of competitive structure and you cant say youth when , Mundy , l Neale were in the middle.
To add to this wofefull 3 year rebuild we have a gut punching injury once again.
Having gone to the WAFL game on Saturday I thought Bennell and Stranadica would be pushing for selection.
Freo is at a precipice and saving R lyon a payout will cost more in membership.
R lyon has been in 4 grand finals ( old game style) and not once has his teams achieved more than 9 goals in those GF.
There is so much to be said , but nothing will change. The club is a laughing stock and it will have to get worse before the board will act.

Our biggest problem is NOT Lyon, it is those who continue to employ him. My biggest fear is that when they eventually terminate his contract, they sign up Roos, Malthouse or some other "Defense is king, don't let the opposition kick goals" excuse for a footy coach.
