I'd actually like to see him given a chance in the midfield not just as a tagger. Give Sutcliffe or Sheridan a run with role. Is it that a 20 yr old has a career ahead of him of just being a used as a a tagger without being a chance to show anything else?. I hope not.

Very happy to agree with that CA. Bloody sad that Lyon has used him that way especially when there are plenty of “lay abouts” that could do that job.

Its an indictment on the 2 you’ve mentioned, that they haven’t been able to transform themselves into that role and be of some substantial use.

Then again, I think he’d been learning a fair bit about the game by playing on the players he’s been taking out, so hopefully that equips him better for the roles he plays in the future. Obviously has the skills,nous, and temperament to be a much more useful player.

Don’t know where the stats would befound, but I’d like to know how many other 19yr old Ist year 2018 players have played all 17 games and had 250 disposals and laid 67 tackles (av. 4 / game)?

Can’t think there’d be too many others.....

Can someone remind me why we are bagging Jones again??
He has been as good as Hodor in his 3 games and Sandi is obviously not fit yet. So why would we not play Jones with Hodor? Every time Jones has played he has given us something we have been previously lacking and there is no coincidence we have played well in each of his games.
Everyone was screaming to play the kids, now we are playing them. Then everyone, especially last year complained that the kids were not given a proper run before being dropped.
Overall that was a good effort away last week and Jones was no way in the bottom 5 performers. And just quietly, Sutcliffe probably played his best ever game for Freo, as moderate as it was and deserves another shot this week. That was the strongest over the ball Ive seen him.

Tbone, sutcliffe,matera & jones all remain in the side , bet Clarkson will be having a few sleepless nights about that quartet
Jones is the tall forward target again but cant take a pack mark, why not try starman at FF for the rest of the year,at least the kid has some mobility and is a good contested mark
Brady Grey hard at the contest and a tackling machine, Harley is all class and ready to go but both cant get a game ahead of those players, just an ongoing nightmare re the brainstrust running the club

Jones isn't some skinny beanpole straight out of school. He's 23, very much mature age and in his prime (4 years older than Darcy). The improvement in his body shape and size is minimal and he's had a long time at WAFL level to learn his craft. If you're expecting a large improvement, you're going to be disappointed.

Starman much better in that skill and should be given priority , who knows what goes through Rolys mind except a further lucrative contract and not being held accountable by Rosnich etc (what is the no name no presence president?)
He must be rapt he is not under pressure like he would be in Melb
