My point, Morgan is that we are not playing to the strentghs of our players, every time the Hills, Wilson, Ryan and Walters get the ball, they should have a target inside 50, but they don't. B Hill gets in all sorts of trouble trying to work out which of the 15 meter kicks is the best option, at Hawthorn he had 1 or 2 of Bruest, Roughhead, Gunstan, Papolo and Rioli leading AT him from inside 50. That is where he is being found out now.

Let’s get back to the idea about defending your immediate opponent first then worry about that 40m dart into our fwd. 50. You’ll always look good when you’re a seagull, but struggle to tackle. All game plans go out the window when you can’t stop your player with the ball. That happened last Sunday. All this caper about kicking into our fwd 50 with our so called stay home forwards are just laughable. And that’s the reason why they want to change the rules to starting positions. If you can’t win the contested ball, you’ve got no hope.

Hmm, I'd say Craig Bradley, Kevin Bartlett, Darren Jarman, Peter Daicos, Stevie Johnson, Andrew Gaff are a few off the top of my head who were receivers and not contested ball players. Every side needs them and Bradley Hill probably fills the role best for us.

Just on the numbers around the ball discussion. It appears the coaches are in an arms race not to be outnumbered at the ball; so as not to be outnumbered at the ball.

If you have eighteen blokes at the contest how can they all be effectively used?

If a coach blinks; say Lyon throws Brad Hill or Walters 30 metres off the cluster what will the other coach do? Guaranteed he'll man him up. And what would happen if you then threw another off the ball.......

Amongst all the talk of zones and interchange restrictions, this whole thing gets fixed by one coach blinking!
