Once again another ripper of a game. Swans & north playing hard, attractive, attacking football. Then we are forced to watch Freo rolyball. Scrappy & boring. Not a great spectacle at all.

Seriously ? Plenty to like. Darcy was great, backline did a great job. Mundy and Neale terrific in the midfield. We fought hard and beat a team that would’ve been top 4.

The skills were appalling but our team of scrappy underdogs willed themselves to victory against a team with premiership aspirations on a miserable day when 33,000 Freo fans turned up when there was no good reason to. It was high farce mixed with unexpected happiness.

If you can’t find joy in that there’s no helping you. Like, why not find a hobby that brings you some comfort?

While I'm not Jezza, Darcy, Cox, Jones, Ryan, Langdon, B Hill, and Giro made it worth watching just for the promise they showed. (And Wilson for his attack on the footy in the second quarter, when Charlie Dixon, that big forward from Port, decided he did not want to put his body on the line against the smaller Wilson. I knew we had the game then.)

Freo won because they weren’t overawed. Our last 2 weeks wasn’t pretty but if we’re sticking the boot in because of how we played to get the 4 points, then perhaps you’re also disrespecting Port, the team that belted us in Rd1 and a genuine premiership contender.

I must have been at a different game because I thought it was a fantastic win. Gave us zero chance going in. Zero. We completely dominated Port after quarter time. The game as a spectacle was let down by the kicking at goal, sure, but even if both teams had kicked perfectly we still would have won easily.

Undermanned against a flag favourite not really missing anyone except Jonas I thought it was one of our best wins for a couple of years. I have been the first to lay the boot in when we lose but games like this prove I know nothing about footy. Well done Freo.

I went to the game without great expectations but I was keen to watch the boys play after the belting they got in Darwin. I wasn’t disappointed by the endeavour of some of the youngsters especially Giro Banfield Ryan Pearce and Hamling. I liked our ruck duo and Cox seems to have changed the way he prepares to have a shot on goal. We are a better team with B Hill. I thought Nathan Wilson played his best game for us..
I watched the boys and they won against the odd. I came away happy except for one thing.... bloody Collingwood!
