A sad story highlighting the damage racial abuse can do. I'm sorry for the pain he still feels, but it's nice to see him moving forward with his life and hopefully finding peace.

The Prince was one of my favourites, dating back to his Claremont days under Neesham. He had such a fantastic and rare combination of toughness and panache.

I remember an incident at Victoria Park one day. Some mouthy Collingwood type had kicked a goal, and as the ball was coming back to the centre he decided to charge into the back of Chisholm. The bloke was so excited he fell over in the process, and Scott, somewhat bemused stood over him. The umpire turned around and awarded a free kick in front of goal to the Collingwood player. I recall this mostly because the injustice of it all led to me shattering a remote control in pieces after I flung it against the wall in disgust. I was a teenager living at home at the time, so this could have gone down quite poorly with my Mum. When I explained what happened she wasn't so mad about the remote - though I still had to pay for a replacement.

One of the most disappointing elements of that story was the line that Chisholm felt judged by Freo because of the demands he had made in relation to Everitt’s sanctions. I think most of us remember the Neesham / Kelly / Hatt days fondly as a time the club was a standard bearer for dealing with cultural sensitivities and our indigenous players. It just goes to show how fraught these issues can be.

He was at Melbourne when it happened.

That makes a little more sense. Still, Schwabby and Neil Daniher were CEO and coach of Melbourne at the time, so you would have thought they'd have his back.

Maybe he's talking about the Melbourne players. Viney was captain, and I never forgave him for his role in the VFL tribunal shamefully suspending Lewis for biting after Viney shoved his fingers down Lewis' throat.

1.5 hour walking tour around one of Fremantle's heritage sites called the Roundhouse, leaving from the Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Center at 10am daily (except Saturday) from the 28th of May. This tour extends into the Fremantle Markets on Friday and Sunday.

I was reading this and didn't see the decimal point at first. I thought - 15 hour walking tour. That Scott Chisholm doesn't hold anything back.

No human being should have to be subjected to such abuse, either on or off a sporting field. It makes me incensed that it still takes place today. You can see Scott is a good person, and I feel sorry for him having to harbour that sadness.

Matt Price’s musings on the Prince of Pockets in his ‘Way to Go’ book is worth the price of the book alone.

A disappointingly sad story. Possibly my favourite player in the very early Freo days. Loved the way he played with dash and daring. Also the way Neesham let him do that.
Neesham was a great coach, who got the best out of an average team. They all seemed to love playing for him. I miss those days, particularly when we have guys like Chisholm in our team now, e.g. Stephen Hill who could be the same if he was allowed.
Maybe it's the style of football today, the coach, or both, but even though we are not much better then than we are now, it was a lot more fun being a Freo supporter in those days.

I used to love it when he used to take the kick in after a point.

Nobody ( including scott) had any idea what was going to happen next.

Yes I'm also sorry for the pain Scott has suffered, he was a fantastic entertainer and a real talent. Fantastic nostalgia this post has brought back all the same.
I agree completely that the box of chocolates that the early Dockers made up was a far more exciting mix than what we have had dished up for the last 5 years. To see Willsy, Winny, Prince of Pockets, Kikkity, Durkkay, Muir, Koopsy and Waterhouse displaying their unpredictable finest was a thrill I will always remember. There was never a game that wasnt winnable and there was always lots of highlights! Loved every minute of it.

I reckon Scotty Chisolm has a real rare place in Freo history... when we first started - we were ‘something different’ - strange uniform, cobbled together team, interesting and different, ‘mad’ gameplan.

One of the finest contributors to that ‘mad Neesham game plan’ was ‘The Prince of Pockets’. To see him run with the ball full throttle , and then just stop - dead still - while everyone ran past him, was surely one of the most unique elements of Freo gamestyle in those early days.

Yep, ‘he chanced his arm’ and he had a great coach that allowed - no - ...’encouraged’ him to do it.

Most of the time he got away with it, sometimes he didn’t.

I cant ever remember getting perturbed that Scotty Chisolm got caught, or stuffed up the kick in, or that he was no where near his man. You expected all that because he was ‘trying something different’

Geez I wish we had some of that in todays team.

Anyway, I probably wouldnt normally go for Scott’s tour type thing, but I gotta say, as soon as I can, Im going to go on it!
I’d reckon every Dockerlander would happily do the same - he brought so much enjoyment to us all in those early days.

If this is one small way of repaying that joy, then I’m in!

And I’d happily pay double the admission if it was just some small way of saying “Thanks Scotty, you were great and you made us feel great!”

I've been giving all this a bit more thought....

The AwFl want more pre-match entertainment...forgotten the term they use (was it crown inclusion?..or immersion?...or something..??)

Well, I wonder if we could get Scotty's Osprey in on the act?? A trained seabird of prey flying in and doing a couple of laps of 'The Craypot' before each game would be a whole lot better than some of the tripe we get now,.

But, if said Osprey could be trained to hunt, down, and maim a certain wedgetail eagle before each 'Other Team's' home Derby, well...I reckon we could really be on to something!!!

It would really get some 'crowd inclusion' going!!

In fact, an Osprey would be a damned good mascot, for mine...a whole lot better than the one we've got!

Having said that, wouldn't it be great if, each week, we could have a 'Freo Legend' - such as Scotty - walk a lap of the oval, just so we can remember..pay some homage...give them some thanks, pay some courtesy to them for what they provided us many years ago.

Allow us to tell 'em that 'we remember them'.

Allow us to tell our children about who they were and what they did.

Build some culture...culture that is all too soon being eroded by Cockburn HQ and all their "Whiz-bang" marketing ideas...

Anyhow, trot out a different bloke from yesteryear before each match. Maybe someone like the Wiz could wander around each forward pocket, get on the impossible angle and plonk a few through.

I reckon Clive could potentially bring the house down if he did a lap.

I'd much rather paying my respects to some of these gents - representative of 'Freo' - , than watch Johnny the Doc do whatever Johnny the Doc is meant to be doing...
