The umps were actually very good. In the first quarter a slime player was busy beating up a GWS player who'd gone over the boundary line, and the umps just gave the GWS player a free. You could just imagine the wheels turning in the WC fan's brains, realising that their god given right to bash up the opposition was gone.
And AFL, just to let you know, the game was much more enjoyable to watch without the usual carp umpiring in WC's favour.

I was at the game and I thought the umpiring was good, not that you would know from the crowd.
There were a few soft frees and missed ones each way, but otherwise a good performance.
I was trying to engage a fellow with a proper understanding of the HTB rule, but discovered that understanding the rules wasn't relevant..
Interesting the the free kick count was about in balance and 36 frees for the game, unlike the recent trend with 4 umpires of >50 frees.
Great to see De Boer having a good run.
