Freo are a lazy football team. Everything is done half well with half the required zeal. Everything!

No one is on the same page as the person who is suppose to be the super coach .

It doesn't work if you don't believe in it .

and again I sat there til the bitter end, mind you it would have been pointless leaving early as had to wait for the footy bus.

And to rub salt into the wound all the bloody announcer over the PA system kept saying was how wonderful of all the Vic supporters coming up, let's get the Melbourne chant up and going to help our boys. I know it didn't look like we were out there at times but .............

I have always been glass half full but we have lost home games against the Roos and Brisbane and now lost to Melbourne by 9 goals, the team we could beat away even when Clive was in the team. The eagles are in the finals and the poms are winning at cricket and soccer. I am drinking the rest of my half full glass and am off to bed

You must have been to different experiences to me for away games vs Melbourne. Still have nightmares of Austin W kicking goals while sitting on his backside bracing for a tackle, or the 8 goal turnaround...admittedly, all this was after Clive!.

Mushroom, we are not a lazy side, we are a totally exhausted side. ( in a physical, and for the coaching box, tactical sense.)

Someone said above that the Freo board has some tough decisions to make.

I disagree. Each member has a single, easy decision to make.

Sack yourself and go find something to do that you're good at. Open an artisanal sausage food truck. Design hotpants. Get an entry-level mailroom job at WC HQ and work your way up to president of Nic Nat's Dreadlock Maintenance Team.

Just go away.

I am with you Mushroom, I watch a side that is willing to concede and waiting for the footy. Whether this is directly a result of the coach I don’t know. If it is, then to many players lack the character needed.
I watch a lot of junior footy and players that genuinely want to get involved, do get involved. The more players from a team that physically gets involved the more competitive the game. Quite often these teams are outclassed and won’t win the game but as parents we can respect the contest. At the moment to many don’t bring the required want and desire for every contest.
News flash, AFL is an exhausting game both the Eestern Bulldogs and Richmond played high energy physically demanding game styles. That’s just how it is.

You can drop Matera for Ballantyne if you want, you can bring in Bennell, Crowden, Fyfe Sandilands whoever you want and it will be the same ole same ole. As Ive said before, you can bring in Buddy and Kennedy and we would still play the same way and you would get a great look at what Buddy is like clogging up a backline, if thats your thing. And dont fall for the "players arent putting in" they try their guts out running round and round in circles week after week. Dont confuse effort for the exhaustion that comes from fruitlessly banging your own head against a brick wall.

Ask yourself how many of our players are playing at their best. Anyone?? Maybe Mundy and Wilson are still attacking.

Everybody else doesnt know what to do, frozen into indecision and confusion. We should be able to discern a simplified attacking brand which, whilst we are still not good enough to beat most of the top eight would see us kick bags of goals intermittently, when it all goes right. We dont see that.

There are only two solutions: one sack Roly, which my personal belief is it wont happen and would be too costly anyway. Its why I dont bother calling for it.
The second solution which would be practical and doable would be for someone at Docker HQ to grow a pair and tell Roly he has to change. The recent saga was an opportune time to let him know, were going to do things differently now. Tell him you will bring in strong assistant coaches that will be in charge of actually coaching, coaches that have strong input and that Roly cant bully. Prince was entirely right about the mute sycophants in the box who never even eyeball him back as he rants and raves and explains how the players just arent getting his defensive message.

Rolys strength, if he has one, is maybe putting the philosophical touches on an already strong group to get that last 10% mental improvement out of. It doesnt appear he can actually coach in the true under 10s local football coach back to basics style. If he could, we would be seeing the senior players repeatedly doing the basics well and the juniors not doing the basics well but improving every match with the coaching feedback. What we see is the juniors coming in with attacking flair Wilson, Ryan, S Hill, B Hill, Ballantyne etc etc and then bit by bit losing all ability to take the game on.

The Board will never sack him as it would be too much egg, but its time they stood up and laid down the new "arrangement".

It is so sad we are not an afl standard club.
To have turned over half your list in 2 years is poor planning to extreme.
How can a board accept that the club has got it so wrong that 50pc of your employees have to go.
Can you imagine being a ceo and saying to the board, that 50pc of our employeees have to go.
What an absolute disgrace to be mismanaged this bad.
While ross has to take the blame for the outdated game plan , there are others at the club who need to go.
To have a 20 year old leading the ruck and not putting enough planning into sandy’s replacement is incredulous. We are lucky he did not finish several years ago.
Just absolutely bizarre. The commission should intervene.

Great summary rufus, it gives me nightmares when you think what lies ahead of us over the next two or three yrs under Ross ie picks say 6 & 73 (i think) in this years draft,so another two midfielders no doubt (another stuff up as supposed to be a super draft)
We have NO key forwards , in the wings , the young boy from Tassie might be ok but at the moment is a long way off
McCarthy appears to be a dud as under Ross has lost all confidence and now struggles at peel to get a kick let alone a goal
Peel play to Lyons game plan and struggle to kick more than 80 pts even against a bottom wafl sides ,the senior coach is not allowed to coach with any flair and an attacking game plan
What key forward would want to come to us (hogan ?)when it is obvious what Lyons mind set/game plan is, even tony locket would struggle if he played for us
As a supporter/member from day one I long for our early days under Neesham, yes we made mistakes but we always attacked and played entertaining football
They wont sack Lyon as Bond,& Steve want to keep their big fat pay cheques coming, the current President looks a "not rock the boat type" with no vision for the future One of my biggest concerns is what are our ex players who are now on the committee doing about it Come on Peter Bell please take control and show some strong leadership
