I'm not sure Kelly would have endeared himself to the Geelong football department by already angling for a trade home. I understand not wanting to live in Geelong, but here's a guy every club in the league passed over multiple times, only for Geelong to give his career a lifeline. He takes it, and 15 games later says 'yeah, any chance you could send me to a WA club?'.
Imagine how you'd feel if halfway through Barlow's first season he asked Freo to trade him to Geelong? I don't think Geelong are going to make it particular easy for him to leave.
We got Brad Hill for pick 23, and paid roughly the same for Wilson. Although we don't have that to offer at the moment, that's about all I'd be offering.
