Yep he’s a ripper. If as reported he is looking at coming back to WA what would he be worth? Is our first pick off limits ?

He would (and should have been) a great asset. Selwood says “hes a natural ball winner” ...that says enough.!!
Geez he speaks well too...he’d be absolute bewdy to have running around for us.
But why would hecome home to us..? It’d be madness!
And we’d have to give up a whole lot...ie someone like Hodor

Then again, I guess we gave them Menagola....so they owe us something...
Kelly would be a good way of repaying our generosity....

Apparently wants out for family reasons. Would be silly not to make a play for him.

Yep, make a play foor him and it will cost plenty.Annoys me that we didn't pick him up in the draft. There is an obsession with choosing young 18 yr old kids who look great playing against other youngsters whereas he was ready to go and the best midfielder in the WAFL last year.
I would have been more than happy for Cerra and him to have been our picks last year but seeing as Cerra is unwilling to re-sign I hope we are looking at a trade option there, although it will most definitely cost us more than a one for one trade. And of course if they want draft picks, we don't have any.

Corp Cerra will resign he still has another year on his contract anyway. I like Kelly but give me Cerra any day.

How about we swap our Pick 6 ish for Geelongs pick 12 ish and throw in Darcy Tucker and Tommy ?
I reckon they would want Pick 6 and Tucker., which leaves us with no picks of significance . Pick 6 might turn out to be a dud and at least we know Tim is a ready made gun. 25yo next year is the only negative I can see

We will be able to offer Tim way more financially than West Coast . Hopefully McGovern and Gaff both stay and that will put huge pressure on their salary cap

The other side of that coin CA is that guys like Brayshaw and Cerra are five years younger than Kelly, so they have a lot of growth - literally and figuratively - left in them. By the time they are 23 they will be much better players. Cerra is skinny as a rake, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being a Luke Hodge-type physically by the time he's in his mid-20s. Brayshaw has an uncanny knack for getting to the right spot to get the ball, but he's not able to withstand contact at the moment, meaning he tends to rush his kicks and handballs by taking the first option. That's a pretty decent policy right now, but in a few years time I expect he'll know when to take the first option, and when to wear a hit, or take another step/look to find an even better option.

Kelly is a nice player, but taking him in the top 5 would have been a reach. As would trading down in this draft where key talls may be available.

I think we made good picks in the draft this year, including a mature age recruit in Banfield. I think the focus should be on how to draft the next Tim Kelly.

Cerra was a reluctant draftee who is even more reluctant to re-sign. Even if he does he'd be a big risk to go after another two years, like Weller. A straight swap for Kelly this year would be by far the best deal the Dockers could swing. Throw in Tucker if you like. He has skills a bit like Cerra but doesn't get enough ball to regularly influence games.

Walba that is crazy. Cerra holds a lot
more value than Kelly. The Cats would grab that deal in a heartbeat. If last years draft was done today Cerra would be first picked.

Whether or not Cerra is a better player (and that is yet to be established) is not the point. Cerra doesn't want to stay and Kelly who has already proved himself (unlike Cerra - remember, Weller was no better last year than in his first year) to be an elite midfielder wants to return. It's a better deal than trading Cerra for another draft pick and taking a chance on another 18yo..

Ok so don’t we hold the upper hand then if Kelly ‘wants’ to return. He is the only one that has given any indication of wanting to go home for family reasons. Cerra is contracted for another year and has given no indication. Trading him plus another first round draft pick just starting to come into his own for a 23yr old that has been sitting under our nose for years is crazy. If Kelly wants out we have a 50/50 chance of getting him.
