The other side of that coin CA is that guys like Brayshaw and Cerra are five years younger than Kelly, so they have a lot of growth - literally and figuratively - left in them. By the time they are 23 they will be much better players. Cerra is skinny as a rake, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being a Luke Hodge-type physically by the time he's in his mid-20s. Brayshaw has an uncanny knack for getting to the right spot to get the ball, but he's not able to withstand contact at the moment, meaning he tends to rush his kicks and handballs by taking the first option. That's a pretty decent policy right now, but in a few years time I expect he'll know when to take the first option, and when to wear a hit, or take another step/look to find an even better option.
Kelly is a nice player, but taking him in the top 5 would have been a reach. As would trading down in this draft where key talls may be available.
I think we made good picks in the draft this year, including a mature age recruit in Banfield. I think the focus should be on how to draft the next Tim Kelly.
