TOPIC: JONES

Ds and the others , have you even seen this guy play "in person", yes it is clear he mainly is played out of position as a key forward but the guy is a poor mark for his size
Poor pick up as the days are gone that you cant lumber around the ground winning some hit outs
The "star man " and Meek are better prospects

Yep, saw him play many games at East Perth. He was drafted on the back of very good form there.

He’s 23 years old in his first season of AFL. Many ruckman don’t peak before 25. Having said that though, there is a need in some supporters to have an escaped goat. Maybe Jones will fill that need for you.

DS, if you not a natural good mark then he never will be, his effort //intent is fine but at 7ft you need impact
Granted he is only 23 but Starnadica and Meek are better long term prospects

Histrionic Knee Jerkers....that would be a good name for a Tall Dwarfs anthology

He's a ruckman, if Lyon actually plays him as one. Marking is low on the list of required attributes. Sandilands has proven that. And he can't kick for toffee either.

OGS, not sure what DS's marking ability has got to do with Jones's future prospects, but if we are looking for escaped goats, that's as good a reason as any I have come across on Dockerland.

Number 2, that would be a good name for Dave Warners's new band, be a sellout at the Seaview, the Raffles or the Norfolk most weekends.

T. FIst played 166 AFL games. Wouldn't have said marking ability was a strong point of his game....

In fact, if it is true that Jones is not a good mark, well...he'll fit in just fine with us...!

Fyfe, Haselby, Mcpharlin and Pav are the only decent marks we've ever had. He'll fit in fine with us...

Hey OGS there is a mop headed Fijian that can't take a mark to save himself.
Yet 'apparently' according to most of the Perth media, he is a superstar,

Mundy is also a decent mark! And in the only game I saw him play Jones tried hard but wasn't that good. And trying hard was all that could be asked, and he did it. Hope he's not another Sam Collins, but only time will tell.

Yep, the good old trying hard player. Often associated with the best clubman award.

'Fyfe, Haselby, Mcpharlin and Pav are the only decent marks'

OUCH! I'm guessing you're fairly on the young side Cletus!

I seem to remember several more... nominees for mark of the year - Clarke, Crozier, Kersten plus these guys weren't too bad either Ibbo, Duffman, Mods, J Longmuir, Price of Pockets, Willsie... and so on and on...

The only reason Wills took marks, was because everyone around him had their hands over their eyes to block out the glare.

I once saw Peter Mann take a 90mph diving mark an inch off the grass at the WACA on a night so wet flooding records were reset but do any of you young pups have the decency or respect to remember that?

No, you don't.

Luke Toia invented the phrase 'tall for his height' and made it his trademark. Adrian Fletcher physically could not stay on the ground when the ball was in his vicinity. Dale Kickett used to just hang around at 6 feet for the lolz. Clive could go for a mark without his hands, he was that good.

The best of them all was Peter Carey, out on the wing one average day at Subi when he singlehandedly set the game on fire and made history.

You young blokes just have no appreciation for what's happening out there. 4 good marking players in our history?

I'd call that a bit silly but I'm too nice a guy.
