TOPIC: The Straw And The Camel

How long do we need to put up with this? Surely there is a tipping point. Every time it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel it quickly disappears.

As I'm still away and was lucky not to see that rubbish I messaged my brother who has been a member from the the start and I think his reply sums it up pretty well.

From Roly's press conference -apparently we we playing a finely tuned team who were desperate.
Question is, why weren't we?
It was a truly deplorable effort and there have been so many of them in our history.
Roly always talks about it as feedback, well we've had truckloads of feedback. How about he does something about it if he's capable of it.
****** off big time.

And he's not generally like that so surely something has to give somewhere. We can't keep accepting that this is the way it goes. Ah well, **** happens, we're rebuilding and we'll get better, blah blah.
But we're not!

The only thing that changes it CA is 'bums on seats', .sponsorship dollars and - more than probably - TV ratings. Maybe membership numbers will have an effect.

All of which are temporarily distorted with the new stadium.

So, with plenty of sychophantic followers at Cockburn HQ, RoLy knows hes got plenty of time....

Hes unfortunately under no pressure in the short term, especially because he can use the 'rebuilding will be a 4-5 year journey' excuse for a while yet.....

Dont know, but I was looking over at the Virgin President's Lounge stand this afternoon - full at the start of the game, partly empty at half time, empty by three quarter time.

The corporates may not be all that bright, but they recognise ***" like the rest of us. They just get outta there quicker than most.

For what it’s worth CA, I’ll joined the corporates and signed off for good. It’s been a journey.

Wow Jezza, as much as I didn't always agree with you when you are deflated that somehow hits me harder than normal.

You'll be back, well I hope so anyway.

I won't be renewing my seats next year after that tripe. Worst performance in the last 10 or 12 years I think. And Ross Lyon just heaps praise on Brisbane as a deflection from his own team's deplorable-ness. First time for many of us that we did the three quarter time walk out.

These guys are living the AFL dream, getting paid a surgeon's salary, and looking like they'd rather be surfing. Weekend's are precious, why would supporters give up their time to sit and watch that nonsense. At least if I'm at home watching it on Foxtel, I'm saving a truckload of cash and I can change the channel. They've lost me as a seat-renter, I'm afraid.

Not sure about "worst", GG, but I reckon most disappointing loss in the last 10 years. I was shot down when I commented after the Carlton game that we should have smashed them, and the signs where there, in the second half, that nothing has changed.

We started this week like we played in the second half against Carlton. It is almost as if the management gives instructions to the coaching box to tell them to "advertise the game" every time the calls for coaching/management heads to roll gets too loud, you can almost hear Rosich saying "give them a half of entertaining footy to shut Dockerland, CA, Yeti, Morgan and co up, then get back to bottom line efficiencies and number crunching".

I was there, it was horrible and they looked completely rudderless but it’s worth bearing in mind the old adage, it’s never as good as it seems and it’s never as bad as it seems. I think a young team, losing its main ruckman just before the start of the game didn’t help. Having said all that I hope Switkowski gets over that hammy and I never have to watch Matera and it pains me to say it Ballas out there again. Bhilly and Bennell would have helped a bit yesterday.

We had only 3 less I50s (47 to 50) to the Lions but only took 7 marks to their 17 I50. Once again, the brains trust had us too short in front of goals to capitalise on any forward entries.

It’s not rocket science, can some one at Cockburn central tell the coach to play at least one big bloke in the forward 50 and Balla and Walters to stop trying to take overhead screamers and stay on the deck to do what needs to be done.

They had a tall team and not having another big as an emergency for us was a massive oversight.

Noddy, if Ballas and Walters stay on the deck in our forward line as it is structured, the opposition defenders will mark the footy unopposed.

I've been around since the start, with a Quay Club membership that's worth less than bugger all to me now. I'm more or less certain that I won't be bothering to renew my membership next season. That'll be more income from 'seat renters' (good phrase) that the club will be losing. I'm also seriously considering not turning up to watch the last few home games this season, either.
It's taken a few years to accept the fact, but there has to be better ways to spend my hard-earned than subsidising a disappointing and mediocre team, playing uninteresting footy in a money-fixated league that doesn't even pretend to be honest or fair.

I’m not really sure why anyone is surprised. It was a vintage Fremantle performance and they usually do 4 or 5 of them every year since inception. It is expected and accepted. There will be no ramifications and the club will simply ‘move on.’

Wow. Two weeks ago it was all green shoots and a surplus of quality talls.
Now this. I stayed until the end and have never left a game early - it makes me feel superior to that other mob. Yesterday was probably the flattest I have felt after a game and I’ve been to some shockers. Judging by the lack of noise I’m thinking quite a few felt the same way.
I’m 50/50 on renewing but I’ve felt this way before and something brings me back.
I’d need Ross to be sacked (I would expected a stronger response yesterday) and Cerra signing up again to give me something to get through the off season (and the ooftits going out in straight sets of course).
Na I’ll sign up - I just like going to the footy and there has been some good days. I just want more of them.
