Moving from Fremantle was a big mistake and I am not sure if it can ever be reversed, although I believe they just lease the facility at Cockburn. When at Fremantle Oval It was good for both the football club and the city of Fremantle. It was so nice to visit training and the oval, particularly when Connolly was at the helm. They were a family club at that time. Tuesdays open training were awesome.
It was a broken promise. In many ways it feels like a AFL franchise now, just a brand. All that is at Cockburn could have been replicated at Fremantle or dare I say East Fremantle. South Fremantle and East Fremantle leaders at the time of foundation should have grabbed the opportunity to do something together but refused to work together for a greater cause at the time. Too caught up in colours and names. Shame on the decisions makers to move - some have moved on themselves now and really dont care.
