I completely understand ( & respect & agree with what you are saying) Larkin...but...whats happened in the past with 211 is different to now.
1) he's 35
2) Hes basically rucked alone for the whole year...and 35 yr olds are gonna struggle with that concept in the last half of the season
3) smart clubs have contingencies and proper planning.
Basically, we aint smart!!
We knew Brisbane are a tall team - they have done very well recruiting tall young blokes (who are beginning to bloom) over the past few years....and we trot out against them witha 35 yr old legend and 2 other 'talls' whove both played a handful of games.
Its been inevitable a year that Sandy was a moment away from breaking down (history tells us this) and we ought to have been better prepared.
Late Sunday fixture or not, maybe we hold a tall back from the WAFL for this week. Thats all I'm saying....
Sandy's a champion and I love him, but we gotta be realistic about where he is at, and be prepared for him to go down.
Whether thats before the game or during the game, we should have another "full time" ruckman in the stands, if not in the team....
Would it have changed yesterdays result - in hindsight, because the whole team was 'down ' - No. But had we been ' up ', we still would have caught lacking a tall...
If it cost Jones a game in the Wafl to be sitting in the stands we'd have been none the worse off...
