TOPIC: Trade targets

Detox
As I see it this year, these are some of the trade targets we should be going after.
FREE AGENTS
Reece Conca - he is a restricted free agent, probably won't cost too much and will boost our list.
He won't dramatically change us but he will bring the hardness and tackling power which we are lacking.
He can play in a number of different positions too.
Jeremy McGovern - he is a star but will be expensive and I am not to sure he is exactly what we need.
One of the best marks in the game and could potentially makes us a lot better but might cost us other players down the track. I mainly like this one because it will upset a lot of Egirls supporters. We could find out in the next couple of weeks if he can play forward and kick goals.
OUT OF CONTRACT
Shai Bolton - Exciting player who would probably be playing in any other team. We will have to give up valuable draft picks to get him which we don't really have (might have to use future picks or trade down the draft order).
I am also a little worried about his character. He seems like a bit a show pony and is always trying to do the impossible.

As I see it free agents are always attractive because you don't have to give up any valuable draft picks.
So I say go for the free agents and keep our draft picks.

Although I quite like the idea of Reece Conca coming home to Freo, I think we have enough players of his ilk.

I think there is a plausible one and that's Mitch McGovern.

He would be a fine addition to our ordinary tall forward arsenal.

I'll say it again, "Josh Carr"!!! Perhaps with Suma as a mentor for a year or two.

Jack Martin is somehow lost on the Gold Coast. In purple he’ll be some player.

At the risk of sounding tangential - shouldn’t we be trying to trade into/up to the early rounds of the draft - There’s at least three GUN tall forwards for the taking that are unlikely to fall to our likely first pick. We would desperately like one of Lukosios or the King brothers. Rather than looking who to trade in, I’m curious to know who we’d be willing to trade OUT. Mundy, Sandilands, Johnson are the top of the age bracket and possibly worth releasing in the name of the “rebuild” but it seems to me they’re worth more to us as players than as trade bait - not too many clubs will offer a first round pick for any of them (though they may upgrade our first rounder to an earlier first rounder, but that would seem to undervalue those players). Is it worth trading out one of our second string forwards in the pursuit of a pick that MIGHT net us a superstar forward? Is it better to have Cox now or a punt at the next Ben Brown/Buddy Franklin with no guarantee that they’ll actually become the hero that they could be. Not sure where I stand.

Is there any way we can get Gold Coast to guarantee T-Bone a spot on their list?
