My view is that there are too many boofhead radio commentators calling games on TV. BT is a perfect example of a poor-man's Rex Hunt who has been given the primetime TV slot for reasons I don't quite understand.
My preference for commentators is the same as for umpires - I prefer the ones I don't notice. Give me a commentator who doesn't think it's all about them, and I'll generally be happy.
I don't mind Anthony Hudson for that reason. I was also fan of Jason Bennett, who calls VFL games but filled in when Bruce was covering the Commonwealth Games. Russell is ok.
I know they weren't too popular on here, but Bruce and Dennis in their prime about 5-10 years ago were pretty good.
I must admit, when I watch other sports like US broadcasts or soccer, or even the rugby and Tour, the quality of the calling relative to AFL commentators is very noticeable.
