It took 30 minutes of the World Cup to remember soccer is a rubbish game played exclusively by cheats. This revelation typically coincides with the first goal against the Socceroos, but obviously I’m getting grumpier with age.

It’s an entire sport played by Luke Shuey-types.

English Soccer used to be great, skilful, hard and fair right through the leagues. I supported a 3rd Div club and every week they'd be 10,000-15,000 people there. More for a 'Cup' game or local derby.
Then came the Premier League and with it the rich clubs rose to the top while the grass roots teams got shafted big-time.
Gone are the days when a team from the lower leagues actually stood a chance of winning anything other than a paper cup.
Sigh.

Then I came to OZ : ) YAY : )
Hoping that WAFL doesn't go the same way but it may be too late...

Maybe you're a Wycombe Wanderers supporter. They had a cracking match against Forest Green a couple of weeks ago - they got permission to hold it on the Wicombe Primary School pitch right after the little ones had a free dance session as part of their Special Art studies. By all accounts the match was every bit as good as the free dance session before it - Forest Green Rovers came out winners in a fairly creative match, 26 to 17.
