Dale Kickett has spoken a bit in the past about the regret he feels for not getting to 150 Freo games - and life membership - because of the suspension he received for punching Phil Read (and others).

If missing 150 games makes you regret punching Phil Read, it must mean something to the players.

I'm not sure it warrants the social media and merchandising blitz by Freo HQ, but I'd say that, on balance, 150 games is a thing.

The solution to this whole problem is staring us in the face: Dale Kickett played 135 games for us. 135 games for the Fremantle Football Club should be our life membership figure.

As well as Dale Kickett, Heath Black, Justin Longmuir and Matt de Boer would be the others to qualify under this initiative.

I've always said the benchmark should be 106 games for life membership at Freo. Coincidentally, that tallys with Clives endeavours. Any young player recruited to Freo should be striving for that. Yeah, we should model Australian footy milestone recognition on cricket or baseball or Wednesday night darts at the local. Sure!

Games of footy are hard. Stringing lots in a career is tough work. With a couple of snapped leg bones, bung shoulders as a young recruit, multiple “clean up” surgical operations to name just a few hurdles (heaven knows there are plenty more). It could have ended any and many times before.

Look at the players mentioned here. Look at all the players through time. There really aren’t that many who reach 150.

Have humility and keep it real, for certain. But, it’s a thing!
